so about a month ago i started to have a issue with my car not wanting to turn over. Its like the battery was dying, so i thought that since ive had this battery since i bought the car it was time for a new one. So i got a optima, after about a day that thing was dead. so maybe my alternator...
new longblock from toyota was $2800, it would have cost me $3200 for a complete rebuild cause the head and everything was all rusted. bottom end was toast, looked like it sat in the rain for 10 years.
i bought the jdm motor took all the accersories and put them on a new longblock from toyota. U have to take the motor apart, iam glad i did i had a lot of rust in mine.
most jdm motors come with a new ecu and a harness, i got my motor from nagasaki motors. it ended up costing me alot to get the harness extended since the jdm harness is for right hand drive. and was like 18 inches short from reaching in to the glove compartment.
i use a hand power sander and a little hand sander takes a VERY long time and i wasnt that happy with my results but this is how it turned out. and do not polish your heat shields, they look like crap after one day of driving
i got a turbo xs rfl bov my only complaint is the afterfire from it venting to atmosphere. Mine was fine out of the box no adjusting needed, and it just sounds sweet.
bought mine for 2 g's, within six months i had 6 plus into it , within a year about 10. i sometimes wonder why then, i just go to the garage and fall in love all over again.
i have that first kit, had to cut some of the bumper support out to mount the ic and cut one pipe so i could keep my 3000 pipe all in all it wasnt a bad deal.
i bought a new longblock from toyota for $2800, if all the accessories are still good just drop in the new longblock. While your tearing everything off the old block u should be able to see what needs replacing.
my car started out as a n/a, my first ride in a turbo was when my motor swap was done. I think i need a twelve step program. Or 5-10 more grand in the car then i will be ok.
i agree, i use ebay if in need for stock or non moving parts, or occasionally i see a good deal for a major brand name and might throw down a bid. Basically if it cost's hundreds less than a normal aftermarket/stock part then u get what u pay for.
