No big update. The summer heat killed any motivation to work on the supra. The past week's weather had been pretty comfortable so I put in a little work. Painted and installed the rear three piece spoiler, installed coilovers and wrapped the wheels in tires. 255/35/18 front (9.5" wheel) and...
Thanks man. I'm pretty happy with them. These supras can take some thick tires in the rear.
This my all time favorite black supra and I'm going for a similar look.
With light smoke tinted windows.
So,
Cruising ebay for cheap wheels, i came across a new set of 18x9.5 / 18.10.5 + 22 wheels for $500 shipped. The vendor didn't list an actual photo of the wheels, just a computer drawing with a blank center cap. The listing didn't even show the brand. The wheel design is not my favorite but the...
Buddy of mine is running a 3 core radiator (from ebay) in his MK3 and fitment was fine. The problem he had was the poor packaging for shipment. The radiators are simply boxed in a single walled cardboard box. There's not protective cap placed on the inlets and outlets so they easily eat through...
^ Saw your supra at the toyota meet in VA last month. Your supra is really nice.
I'm one of the two guys with the 1uz cressidas that rolled in spitting coolant. How ironic.
I dont know for sure but I would suspect the ecu pinouts should be the same. The body harness may have some differences but that's not a problem with the swap.
Hello,
Just saw your PM. I never consider the ECU part #. Model year of the engine is what's important for the swap. From my personal experience;
1) 91-92 (possibly 93) have a vacuum modulated EGR system and a cold start injector. Any SC400 ecu from 91-95 will run this just fine.
2) 93-95...
Here's the link. He's in Russia so it will take a few weeks. He's a good guy with great customer service. Turn around was fast, communication was great and tracking # was provided.

So,
I went to my local junkyard saturday, to pull a w58 from a 84 celica. Someone beat me to it but 2 cars down was a 300zx with a pair of magnaflow mufflers. I had to grab them at $10 each.
Some soap, water and a little aircraft paint remover to dissolve the road tar and they cleaned up...
People have fit them on the vvti 1uz and 3uz motors with lots of money and good results. I would prefer supercharge the 1st gen motor with a m90 or m112 and intake adapter from Bulletcars.com. The intake is expensive but M90's and M112's can be found all day long for a good price. The first gen...
I agree. It looks so much meaner without the cover.
I will probably ditch it.
No question on finishing. If it wasn't for the problem with the adapter plate, I would have videos of it running by now.
So... After a 2 month setback due to issues with the 1uz/w58 adapter plate I received, I finally got back to work on the supra. In the meantime I did find a nice 3 piece spoiler for sale on craigslist and took the 2 hour drive from Richmond VA to Raleigh NC to pick it up. I hated drilling holes...
Hey! I thougt your username looked familiar. Yeah that me. My old ls400 was the engine donor for that gold cressida. I'm glad a pulled that extra harness and throttle body from the vvti ls400 that day. Im gonna use it on my 3uz vvti along with a hacked 1uz vvti ecu. It allows me to eliminate...
The engine in the blue cress is a craigslist find. It only had 80k on it. All the others were bought from my local junkyard. They charge less than $300 for the complete engine with harness and ecu. I buy an engine gasket kit off ebay and replace all gasket except the headgasket. They aren't...
Hello,
I'm just about ready to start my build so I'll document it here. I'm a hardcore toyota fan and I have owned only Toyota/Lexus products since 1994 when I bought my first Supra. It was a red 1988 NA automatic with the a sportroof. It remained stock as long as I owned it I finally grew bored...
My 2 cents. R series are less available and demand a premium. Most of us can find 10 cheap W series bellhousings (and trans) at the scrap yard before one sub $200 R series bellhousing elsewhere.
I'd focus mostly on the W series. Those that still have the complete R series trans/ bellhousing...
Hello Guy's,
I just joined the forums a couple of weeks ago. Just bought my second MK3 supra a couple of months ago. It's a 1990 NA 5 speed with targa. Ofcourse the head gasket is blown but it's very clean. I'll to start a build thread here to document the progress.
I do have a quick...
