Remote mount oil filter and what about a cooler?

haha 92nsx were both right. just i assumed that you were talking about the holes on the block side, not the filter side. I was talking block, i missread yes you are perfectly right. oldsking no thats still not right, let me explain it differently. think of the block adapter as a way of making...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

okay. changed out all the valve stem seals. managed to do this with the head still on by getting a friend to push down on valve springs with a jack handle bar that had a 1/2 section cut out of the bottom so i could put the collets back in. also filled the cylinders with soft rope to stop valves...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

I did another compression test last night. Looking 100% awesome, gunna bite the bullet and change these seals. next time i build an engine ill assemble the valvetrain myself. its the only part of the engine i didnt put together, and seemingly the only part thats fail okay got the cams and solid...

Poor motor oil selection and excessive temperatures in rebuilt 7m

hey moy. i went with the 35-40psi electronic valve kit from summit racing. although i dont use the hobbs pressure switch i just run the whole unit on a missle switch in the car wired up to acc2. so when i get in i turn the car to on. flick the switch on to open the accusump, get oil pressure...

Article: GUIDE : Setting your ignition timing

in heavily modified 7m's that are running increased boost and higher compression ratios but still retain factory ECU's would it be necessary to retard the base timing to say 8 degrees btdc in an attempt to prevent knocking? or does the ecu take care of that for u, meaning base timing should...

Remote mount oil filter and what about a cooler?

nick i have the permacool oil thermostat also. I know its ment to be a 90/10 design but do u think it flows a little much through the cooler when its still cold. its more like 60bypass/40cooler when cold and then 10bypass/90cooler when hot. or something along those lines. just seems engine takes...

Remote mount oil filter and what about a cooler?

Oldsking, oil gets picked up by your oil pump and is pushed out the outside cavity that is around ur NA stud. then it should go thru to ur remote filter thermostat cooler etc and come back into the engine via the innermost of the 2 holes in the adaptor and through the na stud into the main oil...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

i do the compression test as a way of determining that the rings are good. and via a process of elimination determine that the oil leak must then be in the stem seals. stem seals shouldn't effect blow by i wouldn't imagine. my dump pipe is clean of oil i only just took it off and did some work...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

well if the comp and leakdown are good id go so far as to assume that the turbo is responsible for oil leaks. im pretty sure u can have bad seals without much shaft play as thats reliant on the roller bearing condition. She looks pretty screwed. how did ur fins get like that? ---------- Post...

how does that happen? ive never read about that phenomenon

7m consuming oil. no idea why

yeah ive got a little flow restrictor for oil feed on my gt35 i think its a -4 an feed line and it has a big 1/2inch oil return line. was all custom made for me by reputable turbo shop that specializes in garrett turbos. What could possibly be going wrong there? excessive oil pressure in turbo...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

okay i installed all the gear as per Jdub's recommendations with the 1 way valve etc. It was rainy and dark and foggy so i couldn't see what was going on in terms of smoke etc but the car "felt happy" :p Ill keep an eye on smoke and oil levels over the next few days. although i dont think ill...

    Got gt35?

Like i said earlier. I had all kinds of trouble with spooling and leaky wastegates. Make sure ur not loosing all ur precious zaust gasses thru there somehow

7m consuming oil. no idea why

Im excited to make these changes. The standard setup doesnt have a one way valve off the orifice. Doesnt this cause a massive boost leak. Thanks guys for contruibuting and helping me fix my retarded problems yet again. Ill post back here with results as soon as ive made changes over the next...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

That is the most bad ass answer ever. Thanks Jdub. Ill get onto fixing that up. Would that also explain the leaky valve stem seal like symptoms, smoke etc? Ill fix this and see if it stops the other. Isnt it amazing how every modified car u look at in a magazine has an incorrect pcv...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

Oh yes i charged it like that when i first installed it as per instructions. Sorry i wasn't following, i thought u were trying to tell me to get the oil pressure really high for some crazy reason. Although the accusump gauge doesn't seem to be functioning quite like you said. The accusump gauge...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

So I should plump the catch back into the intake pipe or into the standard location on the throttle body. I just don't trust the valve on the throttle body to not pressurize the crank case under boost. I thought the difference between oil pressure gauge and accusump gauge must have been taking...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

PCV mods are pipes from cam covers go to catch can and then vent to atmosphere. Catch is dry or as dry as can be expected. No oil in IC pipes. Ill do the accusump bit so that i have a proper oil level. Atm im just charging it to about (2.5bar) ~37psi on my in car oil pressure guage. works...

7m consuming oil. no idea why

I cant see whether or not smoke is coming out on accel or decel by looking in rear view mirror. but after some hard mountain running and it does seem to have lost some oil. I do see a decent sized puff when moving from traffic lights after idling.
