With refference to N/A 7M's....2.5 inch piping would sound more raspy depending on the muffer you use. Feeling wise it should feel more peepy down low and continue on up throughout most of the rpm range. With 3inch piping it will bellow deeper and sound more bold. Your downlow will suffer...
This is how my 7mge sounded when i had it...HKS Hi Power Muffler, 1 resonator 3inch piping from headers down, no cat.

I got an N/A. I had a muffler shop do a 3" straight pipe (and it is the straightest possible piping) from the headers back with 1 resonator and a HKS Hi Power Muffler. Trust me its a very nice low note at idle and its a monster at high rpms. -Note- You can still hear the radio while doin 6000rpm...
