I need pictures of peoples' MKIII's with different kinds of wheels

Has anyone ever seen a MKIII with the ubiquitous RS Watanabe wheels? They seem to be the default wheel for the AE86 corollas - when I first saw those cars I thought it was a stock wheel. But curiously never, ever on a MKIII.... Here's a quick shop of GeneStarWind's car to show the...

Lotus-born suspension on the MKIII Supra?

And they still haven't, really - the ecotec was pretty much entirely designed by Lotus, with GM bankrolling the project. Lotus is damn proud of that motor (it's on their webpage) and they have every right to be. Now if only they'd supplant the 2ZZ with their homegrown solution in the Elise...

    350+ rwhp in an NA?

Being NA doesn't turn your motor into the mechanical version of the Karate Kid; special underdog magic abilities aren't granted by taking the difficult path to power. :biglaugh: The only area a 350whp NA will trounce a 350whp turbo is SOUND. A NA 7M of that magnitude roaring and burbling...

    7M-GTE Engine Response

The FXX? o_O Dude, that's essentially a full-out race engine in a $2,000,000 track test car. That is the creme-de-la-creme version of their V12, and I'm sure every single part and piece is lightened to the extreme. The fully assembled 6.2L V12 must be lighter than a shortblock of our 3L I6...

    7M-GTE Engine Response

No doubt the ECU plays a part in it, but I think that's a supporting mod (regarding response), that will allow you to reap the full benefit of the parts and setup you already have. I'm honestly not sure how important exhaust is to throttle response, especially with a turbo, but I'm sure it...

    7M-GTE Engine Response

I can think of several things... Lightened internals(pistons, crank, etc) and flywheel; the less mass you have to motivate, the faster the response. Individual throttle bodies along with a large plenum and the shortest intake tract possible.

    Canyon Run

Ha, I was just driving through that canyon the other week! It's definitely a sweet little road, and the whole time I wished I was driving my supra... instead of my acura legend, whose brakes promptly faded on the downhill. It's gonna be a killer drive when the MKIII's done.

Define an ITB setup's signature sound

No, I don't have one, but fabricating is always in the cards. Quite possible the sound I associate with 7Ms is actually the result of the stock exhaust manifold, as I mentioned before. Anybody have links to video/sound of a 7m with tubular headers? Another idea kicking around in my head is...

Define an ITB setup's signature sound

Yeah, I've kept up with Jens' projects, very cool stuff. The 5M with 7M head and M3 ITBs is going to be incredible too. But unfortunately, both his engines are naturally aspirated and *HAVE* ITBs, which my engine won't have, so his work doesn't help me too much.

Define an ITB setup's signature sound

Now, I have a question thats been buggin me for a while: Exactly what makes the deliciously crisp intake noise of an ITB setup? EXAMPLES: First is the TVR Sagaris, with a n/a 4.0 liter inline 6 with factory ITBs. http://www.pistonheads.tv/clip1049 Second is a Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R...

So it seems to fix its self?

Same problem here too; it would seemingly start at random, but mostly just sat there and cranked. Turns out 2 of my injector clips were loose. My car sat for 3 days while I tried to figure it out..... and everything checked out fine. Finally pushed the clips back into the socket, and the car...

Polyurethane subframe bushings for the MA70 Supra

Wow, this is perfect timing for me as well. I'm definitely in on this one. The prospect of removing the mushy soggy OE rubber is exciting! :biglaugh:

Lotus-born suspension on the MKIII Supra?

Nick M, do have a link/source to that article? ....and stupid 0-60 numbers? Why, were they way overated? (I've heard the stock turbo is hard pressed to do 7) Concerning MKII vs MKIII, if they both have Lotus suspensions, I highly doubt the MKII handles better for any other reason than...

Lotus-born suspension on the MKIII Supra?

I've heard people mention the MKIII having a Lotus designed suspension, but I've never been able to confirm it. The MKII obviously does; I think it was sourced out to Lotus on a contract. But Toyota was a major shareholder in Lotus in the first half of the eighties. The MR2 was designed...

    Emergent new member

Hello, I've been lurking on the forums for a couple months now, and decided to start posting. I'm in Colorado, and recently trekked out to Virginia to pick up my red '88 Turbo hardtop. It's in bad shape engine-wise; horrific blown head-gasket, hoses crumbling in hand, and countless...
