Yes you do... I just got my 1j running the other night. With Y-pipe my turbo's are spooling at 2g's and I can hear the turbo's through the tail pipe. They sound pretty damn good.

I ran into the same problem with my HKS super dragger. I had to order my test pipe an extra inch longer than the cat for everything to fit properly.

There is no linkage to adjust. We have hydraulic setups as far as the clutch is concerned. The only adjustment that can be made is to the clutch pedal.
