Yeah, im on a SB Chevy forum as well. alot of guys have done stuff like this before. theres a couple on this forum as well.
And if you find a conversion kit, you better fuckin tell me cuz that would make my life fantastic :D
It actually shouldn't be that bad...mounts, drive shaft, supra...
yeah, no engine. i was prepared to go up to $500 but i wasnt gonna tell the guy that. it was one of my roommate's friend's car. My roommate actually thought he was gonna just give it to me lol...but im not quite THAT lucky.
Ok, update...finally
I took some trips to autozone, and what I left with was a water pump, an alternator, a chrome alternator bracket, and a new chrome timing chain cover(not necessary)
da pics!
The unnecessary timing chain cover. I did it for the looks :D
Duralast Water Pump...
Yeah!!
ive seen your vids on youtube...ive commented on them i think.
make sure to keep an eye on my build thread (which i have to update today) and make sure im not fukin anything up lol.
lol, thanks for bringing this back to earth a little bit. I had no idea a torque debate would ensue haha...
but yeah...i may try that...if i get a REALLY wild hair up my ass one weekend perhaps.
already tried...i couldnt find a website that made sense...i got it narrowed down to a 78 camaro I THINK...
which is not a vette btw. i may slap the hell out of the guy who told me it was.
lol, ill tell him that. he'll get a kick out of it haha.
lol, he doesn't...he has a shitty old...
i guess its an 80s engine...now that i think about it, i dunno. the guy i bought it from isnt even the one who got it new. he said the guy HE got it from took it from an 80s vette...but thats debatable.
honestly, all i know about this engine is that it has 8 clinders and roughly 380...
lmao...awesome. yeah, that's what i keep tryin to tell him. it will certainly help to have had some outside opinions(facts).
yeah...he's definitely seeing this thread later lol.
yeah, this kinda stuff i am worried about. These kinda pieces seem like a weak link with the amount of low end torque I hope to put out.
But...
My buddy isn't talking about this stuff really...he's talkin about blowin up a rear end or stomping the gas and ending up drivin a bent car around on...
lol, you got it. just keep a close eye on my build thread...it should pick up speed within the next few weeks cuz of more work (more money) and will hopefully be done by the end of the year.
Haha, i certainly would...but no speed channel. there's a monopoly with the cable company in my...
yeah, its a 2 bolt...it's not goin past 400 horsies as far as im concerned. I just wanted the right to say i had 8 cylinders in a supra.
after this, all i hafta do is get one with a 7m and ill be happy.
i couldn't agree more.
Yeah, the enigine's definitely not stock...somewhere in the 400hp and tq area. And i agree, reliability is legendary in ford and chevy smallblocks.
And yes, i'd never put a stock v8 in a supra...a 7mgte would be worlds better.
Haha, my roommate had an 84 camaro...
Nah, it's an 80s engine. It came out of either an 89 camaro or a late 80s Corvette. I was fairly sure that the supra was just as stiff, if not stiffer, than an 80s unibody camaro.
I've also tried telling him this...but he's what I like to call "Perma-Ignorant"
