ok, gotcha. so I need an 88 turbo harness then. will that mean big problems matching it with my 89 engine and harness?

so if I have an 88 NA body, any year engine harness will match up with the chasis harness? just making sure, I have a headache Im trying to figure out---88 NA 5spd shell---87 5spd turbo engine harness---89 turbo engine, no harness---about 5 ECUs Im not sure of.

I cant tell if the turbo engine I bought without a harness is from before 89 or after, so i dont know which harness i need. is there a stamp on the block Im missing or can i look at a certain connector to tell? doing the swap very soon, help much appreciated, thanks

drive an 87 NA mk3: not too slow, doesnt break down because I know what it needs, looks great, sounds amazing, has all the options, swapping a 5spd is easy, ive heard swapping the gte in is easy, finding parts is easy, most parts are reasonably cheap, you dont need a rotary specialist to work on...
