Well, this was my first time ever at the track. I learned a bunch and managed to get into the 7's which was my goal for my first time ever drag racing. I'm super happy with how its running and think I can get into the low 7's soon.
My mods are listed in my sig. I was on MT 275 drag radials...
I didnt monitor EGTs. I had no way to. The guy helping me on the dyno wasn't super comfortable with the software and we ran out of time to really get into tuning timing. He was mainly listening for knock and adjusting the fuel map. I would love to take it back when I get the meth kit and have it...
I'm just running 93 octane. I do want to run a meth kit soon. I think I could benefit a lot from one and would feel better about adding timing under higher boost. Here is a screen shot of my map.
If you're buying them new, then I would go with the 750cc's. I really don't think it will matter what brand on the ones you listed as much as them being in good working condition (new or know good).
For the temp sensor to the gauge cluster I used the stock 7MGTE temp sensor. Screws right into the head on the 2JZGE. As far as the temp sensor for the ecu, I used the 2JZGE sensor with my EMS Stinger ecu.

Thanks Ken!! I need to catch up with you soon. Everything is still running great and I'm getting ready to take the car to the track! I just rebuilt my Master Power T70 turbo myself and its working great. Also ( to IboughtaSupra) I go the cams from web cams. They are great!!
Good stuff. Thanks for the help. I'm wanting to start another 2JZGE-t project and don't want to run a crank trigger. But of course would like to run the 7MGTE CPS instead. I just don't like the look of a big crank trigger wheel mounted in front of the crank pulley. Your info will for sure help!!
So, I'm kind of confused... The first post about ignition setup makes it sound like you have to run both a CPS and Crank wheel to get the MS2 to work correctly. Can you get the MS2 to work with just a 7MGTE CPS? And if so will it control the injectors and ignitor too?
Is this true?? I'm fighting surge after I let off also (at high or low boost). Just wondering if I should even fix it?
Also, then what is the point of an anti surge housing on a turbo?
Here is how I understand it....10 degrees is where you set the stock timing so that your stock ecu is in sync with the static timing. With the EMS Stinger, your just telling the EMS where your timing is at idle. Then it's in sync with your static timing. You'll know when you have you're timing...
Yeah, setting timing in the EMS stinger is more like telling the EMS exactly where the timing is at. As compared to setting it on a stock ecu, where you actually have to adjust the CPS until its at 10deg BTDC at idle.
To check that you have it right, once your done setting it in the EMS, just...
I think the reverse gearing is on the other side of the casing that you haven't taken off yet.

It is straight cut so you can't mistake it with the other ones. Also it doesn't have any syncros attached to it.
On the front...
Yeah, if it's a 2JZGTE with a single turbo manifold setup, I think you won't run into any fitment issues. The only times I've heard of fitment issues with a 2JZGTE in a MK3 Chassis is when the stock twins setup is still bolted on. Good luck!
