Thinking about 2uz swap in a 89 mkiii

As long as you got enough fuel and the right kind of fuel, most definitely not too much. Remember, the 1UZ has a small crank pulley compared to other motors that charger goes onto. I always ran the smallest pulley possible, and even with my M112 I maxed out at 7psi(4800ft elevation) Speaking...

Thinking about 2uz swap in a 89 mkiii

Stay away from the 2UZ, just don't even go there. 2UZ with 1UZ heads.....Better, but you are going to suffocate that displacement, but at least you will be able to rev. Stock 2UZ cams are not ment for rev's. 2UZ's blocks break around the 800hp mark My recommendation would be any good old...

    Monster-Performance 9.73 @ 140mph

28x10.50 M/T slick Stall is around 6500 with full boost and nitrous, but our best 60ft was at 5500. Going to be tightening up the converter a bit. Launch boost is around 20psi.

    Monster-Performance 9.73 @ 140mph

Around 3200lbs with driver We are anxiously awaiting to tear the thing down for a full drag motor build. We already have all the upgrades and components on hand, now it just the matter of ripping it out and moving forward.

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

Got down to a 1.41 today. 1.3's are around the corner as soon as we run nitrous out of the hole. Too bad this is it for our local track until April. With that 1.41 came a nice 9.73@138. 9's were our goal for this year and we just made it. Car gets torn down and built up again with stronger...

Yup, a 10.50 tire goes a long long way, of course good track prep is also needed.

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

28x10.50. Measures 11.50 wide, depending on how the car sits the tire actually rubs on the inside control arm.

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

Not really related to the thread, but the reason why we are working so hard on the 60ft is because this is the direction the car is going....... Billet 88mm.

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

Because you can get an IRS 8.8 from the wrecking yard for cheap. A 9" would require a custom made IRS housing, and a much larger housing at that. You are not going to gain much more needed strength on the 9 vs the 8.8. The advantage of the 9 is stronger axle shafts. 8.8 I think you can only...

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

35 psi progressive of course. The smoother we can ramp up the power the longer the rear will last, although I am sure it is getting fatigued and can give out at any time. Right now the 20psi takes us half way to the 60, but we need more to keep it going the remainder.

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

Going spool, or aftermarket carrier so it doesn't matter. Paid $35 for the Lincoln, cobra would be like $500+ and we would still need to swap out gears carrier, and both still need custom stub shafts. If the 300zx is an 8" diff it won't be any stronger, also parts would bed expensive and...

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

Just want to hit a goal with the car before we give out any details. I have already given out too much :) car levels out at the 30 foot mark, 20psi just isn't enough to keep the acceration rate increasing, so it starts to fall flat. Next time out....35psi out of the hole :)

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

Quick update. We still have our 2nd rear end in and have put down about 20 passes. A couple 1.47's and a fist full of low 1.5's. We have launched without nitrous and lots of boost, and with nitrous with low boost and we have been able to run the car pretty much the same. Next time out we run...

    60ft's and MKIII rear ends

not ready for pics yet, but soon however, we did find out what happend to the rear end. The spring plate that pushes against the outer gear got bent. It is supposed to be flat and it got potato chipped, which reduced the tension on the clutches and pretty much smoked them. We dropped in a...
