I ran without EGR for two years on a built 7M (Lex, 550's, 3" exhaust) because the SOV coil was open circuited. Had no issues. As the intake manifold pressure comes up to atmospheric and then goes to boost, no EGR happens anyway since no vacuum is applied through the vacuum modulator to the...
Could be that the cooling line is vibrating and loosening the banjo. Safety wire it by drilling through the allen or hex head, and wire it with twisted ductile wire to something close and stationary. Make sure that the safety wire is positioned coming off the banjo bolt to keep it tight (wire...
If the camber is not balanced between the front pair of tires, the car will pull toward the most heavily loaded area of the wrong camber tire. Example: If the right front tire is too far outboard at the top, the car will pull to the right because the outside of the right tread is heavily...
Couple of considerations:
1. The turbo oil filter adapter has its own relief valve which opens at about 40 PSI to bypass oil through the cooler and back into the pan. When the engine is hot, the relief valve in the pump (normally set to about 60-70 PSI) does not open since the oil viscosity...
The compressor and turbine mating surfaces are flat, with one piloted in the other (forget which is piloted in which). But... The backsides of each circular mating surface have a taper. A so-called V-band clamp with a matching female taper holds the two pieces together, Once you find it, it...
Most cases of rod knock result from oil starvation, asuming a BHG is not the fault. Looking at the oil pan and pickup, it is easy to see that the oil will run away from the pickup during hard acceleration. I moved my pickup back to the next main bearing cap by exteneding it with a brazed-in...
If that hose went, you can't blame the dealer for it. Had a stock '90 before my built '91. Had a coolant leak. Only found it by air pressurizing the radiator at 15 PSI. Guess what: Same hose as you stated was cracked. Never even knew it was there. Good thing I had loooong Chinese nose...
Not to worry: The knocking sound in neutral should disappear with the clutch disengaged. It is caused by normal lash between the clutch gear on the input shaft, and the mating gear on the cluster. The engine varies slightly in speed between each power stroke at idle, especially if you have a...
Do you have the stock front crankshaft damper or do you have an underdrive pulley? You need the damper to eliminate torsional harmonic vibration in the crankshaft. Flywheel bolts can break due to torsional vibration.

Rust is common here in the Northeast USA. Got my former '90T 5 spd in '92 with just under 40K miles. Drove it essentially stock until '06, when it had the dreaded BHG at 165K miles. Rust was really starting to take its toll, as was wear of the driver's seat welting. The "elbow rest area" on...
I run a 57 trim CT26, 36 PSI fuel pressure at idle (with vacuum), Lex with the stock screw about half way out, and have no problems at all. Mixture richens up under boost to between 9.5 and just under 11:1, and the engine runs like a dream at light load. Also have 3" high flow single cat...
I have a new '90 harness, still in the bag. Was considering returning it to Jeff Watson to get my $420 back. The only difference between it an the '91 is the 02 connector (round body on the '90 vs. square connector on the 91. Otherwise the sensors are the same if you don't want to splice. I...
Like to find other Supra owners in Northern NJ. I'm in Rockaway, Morris County. There seem to be too few of us to not remain in contact. Please PM me.

tErbo bOOst is right. I have not done it on the Supra, but decambering the front of a '70 Firebird (with Chevy BB engine) made if handle like a go-cart some time ago. It cornered so well, that the oil climbed the side of the pan. I only knew it after scratching my head about noisy hydraulic...
The EGR SOV in my '91 had been inoperative for years and it did not affect operation. No codes were set, ever. The stock engine ran fine. When I installed my built-up JDM I used the same SOV. The only way I knew it was that NOx readings were high.

Just curious if anyone has tried to get through state inspection with a 3" single cat system on a turbo. The state looks under cars with a convex mirror to check out the cat, but I wonder if they are knowldegeable enough to know that a turbo has a precat. With the Random Tech 3" system and...
Hi. Best of luck with the restoration. Looks like the body may be a bit rough, but nothing a little elbow grease can't restore.
The underhood picture looks essentially stock, the best way to buy a Supra, especially a turbo. You don't want one that has been modified and beat unless you...
I do not believe the trans is a boltup to a Chevy engine. Look at the Chevrolet bell housing bolt pattern. It is pointed at the top with one bolt at the apex. The '54 transmission bell housing is completely different. There might be adapter plates available from Transdapt or others. First...
