I just finished polishing the valve covers and they look great! How do I keep them looking shiney? Should I apply a clear coat?
I know I have read about this before but I can't find anything via search.
Just put my engine together runs great except that it sounds like a deisel.
I pulled the valve covers and found the clearances to be .019 to .021 on the exhaust side. I am thinking that when the machine shop "rebuilt" the head they probably cut .010 off all of the valve stems as this would be...
Anyone ever "massage " a ding out of ther rim? the bend is less than 1/2" deep (from a pot hole) and located on the inside bead.
I was thinking of warming the metal and using a brass mallet. Yes or No?
Anyone ever have any luck getting reimbursed from the city for damaged wheels caused by potholes?
Couldn't see the pot hole because it was dark, the road was wet and the hole was full of water. Now I have two trashed tires and one slightly bent rim. Anyone have any ideas on fixing the rim...
In an earlier post I mentioned that I had pulled the engine and trans as a unit. I was suprised at how many people responded who just pull the engine. I have always pulled the engine and trans together wether an A/T or manual. I found that removing the 8 or so additional bolts and speedo cable...
While removing the engine from an NA that I was working on, as I had done many times before, I hooked / looped the chain over the lifting hooks of the engine. Everything was going just fine until the engine/trans was over the radiator suport. At which point the chain "rolled" off of the back...
For all of you Utah Supra owners, NPS (1700 South and Empire Ave in SLC)
Has 3 boxes full of hood and hatch struts for $1.99 each. The boxes are located on the bottom shelf directly accross from the tires. As you go in the store turn right and go all the way back to the auto section.
FYI...
I have read in a few different postings that people are adding an extra quart of oil when doing an oil change. What is the purpose of the extra oil, is there an oil starvation problem when cornering or braking? Under acceleration logic would suggest that the oil would be forced rearward to the...
With the Cressida requiring a forward sump pan and the Supra block having a rearward positioned dipstick tube, what is the easy way to remedy this? I would rather not drill out the blank boss for a new tube because the engine is almost completely assembled when I realized the problem.
I have heard it said that for every 2 lbs of boost timing should be backed off
1 deg. Does this apply to the 7MGTE or is the ECM able to adjust for the change?
Currently running 3" pipe, K&N, MBCV, Bosch BOV
Under hard acceleration with 7lbs boost (stock turbo, K&N, 3" pipe, 2kmiles on engine) I am experiencing a slight surge at rpms above 4k.
There are no air leaks in the intake tracts and it is not a missfire. I am thinking fuel delivery maybe a faulty/dirty injector.
Any insight or ideas...
I installed the MBCV last night (correctly this time, one hose to the housing one hose to the actuator) but can not get a steady boost above 5 psi. When I try to adjust the controller (1/4 turn at a time) it will either spike past 8 PSI and settle back to 5 PSI or max steady at 5 PSI (about...
I was given a boost control valve (from a Supramania subscriber) and searching the internet I found this article thinking it was applicable to a CT26. It isnt. Hope this saves others from an incorrect installation...
To make sure that I get what I pay for, how do I tell the difference between a Lexus AFM and the Supra? From what I have researched the part numbers are identical.
The Supra finally failed to proceed (Supras never brake down, they just cease to move forward) which made it possible to trace the fault to a failed pick up coil. Replacing the faulty distributor with a spare distibutor that I had, the car started right up. I also noted that the alternator is...
Car will only start using a little ether. Cranks fine. strong spark / tach reading. Checked AFM and fuel pump as per TSM all readings within specs.
Car runs great otherwise and will often start if the down time is less than approx 15min.
Any ideas or experience with similar problems?
This may be a "no duh" for some but for those who haven't yet had the opportunity to replace the clutch master cylinder. Removing the lower dash (knee panel) interior trim panel to gain access to the retaining nuts will make the job a lot easier. Using a long extension and a universal joint...
Excuse my ignorance, but what causes the blades to chip on the intake side of the turbos? I have noticed this condition in several turbos that I have seen. Is it solely from a foreign object getting past the filter?
Just wondering...
