Turned out to be the wire going from the alternator to the battery. When the swap was done, two different gauge wires were used. I think one ended up getting melted a little. turned out to be an easy fix.

Hey Cruiserhead, I'm having problems similar to what you experenced earlier in the year your 1JZ. I have a '90 1JZ Supra where I just replaced the alternator, however the car is not charging properly. If you could share your findings with from the Cresida it could possibly help me a great deal.
