I believe you are correct, due to the elec. connector extending beyond the body of the coil, good point. Guess I deserve this...:slap:

I do not have coils yet, so please forgive... How difficult do you think it would be to get the inserts out? I have a rivnut tool here at my shop that I could use to install a threaded insert or... could get a splined insert such as http://www.mcmaster.com/#92398a123/=qc2ok5

Has anyone considered or researched drilling & tapping the inserts in the coils so they could be bolted in place from the top as an under-mount? This way the plate could be dismounted and the coils could stay in place over the plugs.

What plug wires you using?

I have found "goof-off" in a yellow can works very well. Apply and let it soak a little and then gently pry with plastic scrapper or floss. I used the stuff to de-badge my black truck and managed to leave to no marks what so ever,:bigthumb:

The only reason it appeared to me is, I just replaced the cooler gasket with the engine in the car... fun times!

Don't forget to install the EGR cooler...
