I can definitely sympathize with ya... my '87T does the same thing - I have to disconnect the battery if I want to park for more than an hour or so, otherwise it's jump-start city... I thought it was my ignition switch and had it replaced (the switch was definitely bad) but the problem...
Ok guys... my baby is driving me insane. I've got some weird-ass electrical problems with the car that none of the shops around me seem to want to even try to diagnose. For example, when I shut the car off, the dash lights and blower all stay on (as if the key was in the "on" position) and kill...
9 times out of 10 I'll throw the horns at them ('cuz that's how I roll :) ) or at least make some acknowledgement... That applies to MK2/MK4 owners as well, but I'll usually ignore the Celicas hehehe
However it's pretty rare to see any around here... there are only 4 MK3's in my county that...
I feel your pain man... sorry to hear that :icon_cry: Glad you got as far out of the way as ya did, sounds like it could've been a whole lot worse! Hopefully the damage won't be too bad and you'll be back in shape in no time :)
Friday night after working a long outdoor gig in 15*F weather (for a parade of all things), I hop into the car to go to the local greasy spoon and get some grub ith the crew. Fire her up and she sounds like CRAP! Sounds like a lawnmower and feels like she's only firing 3ish cylinders, hiccups...
I finally got a chance to check for codes, and there weren't any...
Thanks for your response James... yes, it only happened once. I did what you suggested and tried to reproduce the problem, but wasn't able to under a variety of different circumstances (i.e. any excuse to drive the piss out...
So I was coming home from a gig tonight... drove about 70 miles (according to my odometer that is 10ish % off, so really maybe 60 - 65 miles) and didn't get on it TOO much :)
Anyway, it had snowed at my house while I was gone, and right before I got to my driveway I decided to do a brake...
Here's the interior just before I got her cleaned out... I'm happy to say that all the stains came out... updates as soon as I can take more pics...
^^^ Don't leave home without one of these!!!
Yup... rather freaky actually... inside, the beak protruded about 1/8 inch from the inner surface of the glass... imagine taking an inch long nail and driving it into your windshield then leaving it there. One of the strangest things I've ever seen, considering it didn't shatter the windshield...
Thanks for confirming that I'm not the only one guys - love the stories, keep 'em coming!
No need to apologize for the threadjack JetJock - it's actually somewhat in line with the topic anyway (you'll notice I had indirectly mentioned bird strikes earlier in the thread)... oh and that 171HP...
@ CRE: Oh I completely agree... I always feel bad when it happens, but, then again, there's not much I seem to be able to do about it... in a way, my car is like my cats... they're always bringing me "presents"... maybe Veronica is doing the same thing LOL
@ Edge: I believe that! Speaking of...
LOL I have no idea what kinds of birds I'm hitting... probably sparrows or robins... nothing TOO big fortunately :) All but one of my kills have been in-flight hits, where the birds will fly across the front of the car and not make it... I've only had one squish on take-off so far... I'm sure...
