I covered my rear window trim in electrical tape. Looks fine to me. I had to use two pieces on the top and bottom to make the width. If I could find some extra wide electrical tape that would be much better. I even overlapped it so that the edge of the tape touches the glass to seal the junk out from under the trim. You have to be really careful not to stretch the tape at all while you apply it, or the hot/cold cycles will loosen the tape up and shrink it.

yeah, 3m makes some kind of tape that does the same thing.. used mainley for bmw's, mercedies and so forth.. just to cover the chrome up. There are a few videos on youtube that show how to put it on also.
