Why must I sometimes put R154 in 1st gear to get into reverse?

Syncro's are lubricated and last far longer that brakes will, but they ARE a wear item.

Exactly, I'm a broke college student that spends alot of my money on stuff for my landscaping business. I just bought another plow truck and its the first vehicle I've owned with under 125K on the clock and also the first one that didnt have at least one worn syncro. Double clutching makes the worn syncro gremlins shut up which tells me doing so reduces wear on them.
