So I got this car back in the Winter of 08 and it wasn't in nearly the shape I thought it would be, full story is here
Got the car like this (including bat sticker, :icon_razz):
p1750725_1.jpg

Then Rebuilt the turbos and got it running on AEM because I found out the ECU was bad...
p1750725_2.jpg

After this I was able to drive it for about 100miles or so before the front main seal blew and I was tired of the TT kit so I made a few more changes, ended up like this and was even faster than before at about 20psi,
p1750725_3.jpg

And I have made a little progress past this but just to give you guys an Idea...

I'll get my good camera and snap some current pics this coming week.
What do you think so far?:naughty:

cool...but why not just swap in the 3 liter block and call it a day? your engine looked sick! Seems like a boatload of extra work, what power levels you shooting for? Interesting idea for the IC, is that a 4 inch thick IC core?

Reason is because I can...I wanted to see how it would work. I would like to see 600 at the ground which shouldn't be too hard, may need a larger turbo. The core is 4.5"

Isnt it a 2jzge>? IF so then its already a 3l. 1j head flows better than the 2jzge one.

Do you know if the 2jzgte head bolts onto the 1jz block? Im assuming it does but i dont remember

I'm not really sure if it does. Why would you want to bolt a 2j head onto the 1j block if the 1j head already flows more?
Yes it is a 2jge, I wanted to keep my 1j whole so I could put it into a toyota pickup. I need a work truck
Onto some updates, sorry about the cell pics

2jzgte head flows more than the 1jz head.

How you routing the air to go through the ic? And where are you putting the radiator?

I assume you're going to use a hood much like the Stout. I'm curious how you're going to rebuild the radiator support to not restrict the IC.

the radiator is already mounted. It is below the intercooler, I'll get a pic of it today. And yes, I am going to try to replicate the stout.
Here is a diagram of how my v-mount is setup.

BTW Poodle I've always wondered, In your sig it looks like the top of the driver side fender is all dented up, or is that just a optical illusion?

Hey man, thing looks bad ass. Are you doing this in SLO. I think I have seen that you bounce back in forth between somewhere else. Anyways if you are local I would love to check this thing out and help if ya need it. Let me know. If you are making a hood want to make 2, lol?

Very interesting, was tossing the idea around for my car recently, trying to figure out a way to do it though, has been my issue. Will be following this thread, might borrow an idea or two. ;)

^Did you have a tiger jump on the thing? Sheesh...

On the original subject, do you plan on keeping AC with this setup? Was thinking it over last night, and kinda ran into that snag. I don't NEED AC, but it's nice to have for the roadtrips down south...

This car hasn't had ac since I bought it, It does have a targa and windows I can roll down. Lol
I am building this car for a weekend driver/ cruiser when the weather is nice. I am blessed to live in a area where it never really gets above 100 outside and thats rare.

BTW if anyone has a set of door hinges for a 1985 mk2 let me know. I need the whole set. Thanks

There is a remote reservoir and the main radiator cap is going to be up on the upper radiator outlet kinda by the oil fill.
On the subject of AC you could probably actually keep it easily if you just mounted the condensor on top of the radiator.
These are the only pics I have of the car without the intercooler in but should help some people understand how I did this.
Started out by cutting upper radiator support
p1752472_1.jpg

Then tried mocking up radiator and old intercooler with lower support still in place to get a idea of what it would be like. (def have to cut it off)
p1752472_2.jpg

Cut off old support and made this new one that will help guard the bottom of the radiator during driving too.(I can lift up the whole front of the car on this)
p1752472_3.jpg

Picture of radiator in on top of new support. For the rear one I just welded a bar across the back which I have since cut off and lowered slightly+made it removable for easy engine removal.
p1752472_4.jpg

Also found a few pics from intake manifold construction
p1752472_5.jpg

p1752472_6.jpg

And a box of S.S 90* elbows I turned into my exhaust manifold.
p1752472_7.jpg

p1752472_8.jpg

And this little guy greeted me when I opened the hood the other day. No clue why he was there.
