so now there's a .7ar sittin on the rear

and with regards to the housings held together by epoxy... i've just spent tonite sanding the hell out of the housing for polishing and it ain't broke LOL... so i guess it's holdin together :p

Ok, we have all heard the stories of these turbo's, Here is a little info. I read an article on these turbo's a couple of months ago. The original XS Power turbo's came from a company out of china, Y something. And they were cheep junk (Had a black name plate) and the compressor housing was a two piece casting. The newer XS power turbo's are made in good old California, The castings are made in Cali by a small company for XS Power(the castings are one piece not two so there is no glue),so is the compressor wheels, but they use a Garrett cartage and internals, you can tell by the flying A on them. The reason they can sell them so cheep is that they are pretty much left over truck turbo cartage's, exp. the large AR on the hot side. They sell so many of these turbo's they make a great profit so they can let them go at that price. There also was a write up on supraforums about a guy running one on his forth gen. He put over 10,000 miles on it with no problems and was switching to the larger 70 trim turbo. I would love to know how you guys make out with them turbo's. I know they added braces to the manifolds to stop the cracking problems. I bought one of there manifolds and adaptors and it was first class. I had my local weld shop look it over and they said that it was done very nicely, My only complaint was that it was a little to close to the oil adaptor, so I covered it with heat wrap. I have had no problems with the manifold yet.

ive never heard of any of the ebay i/c's cracking except by the people in this thread, the turbos also arnt held with glue. the wastegates work fine. the only issue is occasionall they get stuck open. which is easily fixed. take it apart. sand the stem on the wastegate valve a lil and put it back. works fine. also, mine had the 1 bar spring. im going to use the ebay manifold, 50mm wastegate, and 24x12x4 i/c and will report on them once i have it up and running on the new engine. the manifold was fine, no warped flanges, and the only thing i saw i didnt like was the holes inside the manifold to the pipes for the wastegate were smaller then they should have been imho, so i used the dremel to open them up. also, i dont know if it would have hit the oil filter adaptor or not as i have a relocation kit so no problems there. manifold was $125 shipped, wastegate was $120 shipped and the i/c was less then $300 shipped. anyway, i might install it all on the old engine first to get baseline maps on the standalone before i swap motors so i dont have any issues damaging it when tuning, so ill let everyone know how it holds up on that engine as im not afraid to kill that one.

yes, you get what you pay for, you pay for a 321 ss tubular t4 turbo manifold and thats what you get, or you pay for a 50mm wastegate and thats what you get, you pay for a huge aluminum i/c and thats what you get. yup. you sure do get what you pay for.

Do a little searching, here and on SF there are a huge number of posts about the stuff. I personelly run the T70 from then with one of their 40mm HKS replica WGs and have not had a problem definetly mod wise for the dollar my top purchases. I will guarrentee you the T70 is not glue together. The front housing is nicely o-ring with a high temp o-ring and then bolted on no glue anywhere. The wastegate holds 14.5 psi solid(1bar spring). From what I see a lot of people go with the crowd. So for those of you who have not tested it personally or have seen one fail first off go comment on stuff that you can prove yourself instead of giving false information. Here are some pictures of the turbo and dynoe sheets:

Of course just my two cents but kinda getting tired of the false information.

Seth...
What is the a/r on the turbo you have? Also, why the big drop in power after 5500rpm?

I'm about to replace my damaged ct36-60 and this is the way I want to go.

I have been running that turbo XS intercooler (24 x 12 x 4) and it certainly seems to do the job. I and a friend have been well over 22 psi. I customized he inlet and outlet so I wouldnt have to cut my core support, heres a shot

Nice setup ARZ. I've too heard horror stories about them way back in the day early last year. But so far I've heard nothing but good since more and more people are running them. The only recent thing i heard was some guy with a wg issue that had to take it apart and smooth out the rod iirc. Put it back together and it worked just fine.
something to look closer at guys...

btw I got the SSAC manifold and its not warped or screwed any way. I had to rub some material off my oil filter housing but thats about it. I also got the manifold ceramic coated as well. Can't wait to see how she performs
