This is the attitude I was referring to! How you could possibly think that a 13 year old kid should be listening to gangster/thug rap, instead of the "pop rap", because it glorifies murder, and drug dealing?!!! Please do society a favor, and don't have any children!!!
Proven fact that alot of those who rap about it, have lived it. They belong where all criminals belong, behind bars, or waiting for the chair!

Just because people rap about something doesnt glorify it. I grew up with that type of music and Im not out shooting people, yet. So, yes Id rather my niece hear something that had meaning behind it. Might give her some insight as to how I grew up. Shed be aware of a whole new way of life and culture shed other wise never know about. You cant hide kids from all aspects of life. Having her listen to a song thats soul purpose is to make some producer rich(er) does no thing for her life, other than make her want a hummer on 26s.

If your one of those people that believe kids will go out and imitate everything they might see or hear, then your just insane and all media should be banned according to you.

Maybe we should ban all books about war, after all those people did some horrific things. Reading about hitler will just glorify hatred towards jews wont it? Forget about the Passions of christ, that poor excuse for gore porn movie just glorifies torture. Our poor impressionable kids will be out to crucify people if they seen that movie.

^Sorry. It's not what one HAS to do, but what one chooses to do! You could tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, untill you're blue in the face, and I still say it's a choice. A very bad choice at that.

If you patronize that genre of music, you are supporting the message, plain and simple. How do you think all those gansta' rappers got wealthy?! C'mon, quit trying to defend what is just plain wrong, and bad for our society.

Those rappers may have done bad things yes but saying they got wealthy selling drugs lmfao thats just downright stupid. Most of those rappers got rich getting cut a break by getting a record deal cuz someone knew they were going to be something big in the rap industry and said hey lets sign this person.

To get as rich as most of these rappers are lol that would take some serious grindin and hustlin. Were talking major shipments of drugs into the US for them to just control and NO WAY any of them got that kind of power or control over the drug industry and not get caught.....roflmfao

Ya I never herd of a rapper who made his millions dealing weed on the corner, then made his CD. If anything the music shows how dangerous it is to deal drugs and how you should do anything you can to get out of it. Not sure how hearing about someone being shot, friends and family being killed and all the other stuff makes you want to go deal drugs? I guess all those anti-smoking ads have the same effect, to glorify?

Its not like any drug deal ever invaded another country to steal their oil or anything ::salute::

^ I'm not sure who Mr. Thompson is? but I'll address all of it by saying you're all screwed up!:aigo: That is, if you guys say that there is any socially redeeming messages in the "rap" that I'm refering to, then you are sadly mistaken.
I go back to what I stated earlier, most of it is about peer pressure. Runnin' with the crowd, bein' "dope" in the eyes of your friends. Start listening to classical music around them and see what happens! Or, better yet, start singing Christian music, and playing it on your stereo's and see what happens!
I'm done with this discussion now.

Music with anti-social messages=FTL!

Dude, its not going to work. He knows he has no argument other than 'your wrong, Im right' attitude that plauges churches.

I still ask how is Passions of the christ a good movie when all it did was glorify torture. Yet, all the churches booked out whole theaters for opening day showings.

Or maybe I dont want to play christian music because of all the child molestation that goes on in the churches. I dont want to support that type of life style so I dont play jesus music.

If you're friends decide not to like you or think you're not cool because of the music you listen to, then your friends are idiots.

I like all kinds of music, I will listen to anything and if my friends don't like that. Sucks for them I guess.

Well look at the demographics, uneducated inner city people, wiggers, or airhead white girls. I mean honestly how hard can it be to impress or addict them to your music.

We had this german foreign exchange student and he listed to "Hardcore Underground Rap" so we let him pop in his cd one day to see if we could tolerate it, and we had made him listen to a lot of rock and alt rock so we were gonna be nice. No shit the first fucking track was about some guy shitting his pants and it proceeded to in great detail describe the shitting of the pants. Yeah I hit eject and threw it in the backseat and said simply "Fuck that".

We were in my blazer at the time, he wasn't allowed in the Supra because he talked shit on them so I wouldnt let him ride in it.

No, that is mainly what I listened too. Pink Floyd, Lynard Skynard, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and so on and so forth.

from this small selection of music (and you method of thinking), i see that you condone drugs, free sexual expression, rebellion, and more drugs.

so when your kids come to you and say, "fuck establishment, i'm going to join a commune in the backwood of canada and due illicit drugs until i fry my brain or overdose."; you will be fine with this?
