with a .96 A/R you are easily looking at mid to high 5K range with that sized turbo on a 2.5L

i had a 60-1 with a .96 a/r way back in the day, i hit 18psi at around 4800 on a small turbo on my 1JZ

Why are you "guessing" in a Tech section?

If you don't have valid input for the question don't post it's helping no one......

According to Bigzavs, I'm pretty darn close. But you're right, I really shouldn't be here. I just wanted to see how close I'd be to everyone else I suppose.

The turbo setup that is currently going into my 1JZ is a 60-1 turbo with .70A/R. With your setup I made an educated guess.

Why do you want such a big back housing? You can get a .81 or .83, I can't remember and that will cut down your lag time a bit and give you plenty of power up top.

To your question, I would have said about a week, but Ian would have banned me, so I'm not even going answer..............well, I kinda did.

The .96 is way to big for a 1JZ, unless you are shooting for 700+. Anything larger than a 66mm turbo is really laggy on a 1j. We tuned a 1j car with a .68 T67 and it made 15-17 psi at 5300-5500 RPMs. Which really kills the drivability of the 1jz, unless you rev to 8000-9000 rpms. It made peak boost after peak TQ, which is a sign of too much turbo for the engine. Honestly if your goals are 550 rhwp or less stick with a 61-62mm turbo.

wow thats a long time..i heard people with ta 70 with a .68 making that kinda boost much earlier on a 1jz, so why would it take longer with a t67?

OK
with my pt70 on 20 psi and a .81 a/r exhuast housing i was seeing fully boost around 52-5300 rpms so for a .96 i would say close to 6k

Giving all of 1500 rpm of usable powerband before it floats the tired old stock springs....

Sounds like it'd be a joy to drive in the real world.

It's almost like I'm sensing some sarcasm in this post, but I can't be sure...............:biglaugh:

My goals are 600hp+.plus i think with a really good tune and maybe bigger injectors ill be good.till i find a 2j block.

If you can give more input on my setup ill gladly take it into consideration.

You will not hit 600+ with an SAFC and 550's. You will need 680cc injector minimun, and a stock computer and SAFC will not be able to control it. The most I have seen with a stock ecu and AFC and 550cc injectors is 550 rwhp...and that was with 13.0-13.5 AFR's. You will need a proper standalone ems to make 600+ safely and reliably. We (BIC Performance) are working on a P&P Haltech ems, it should be ready in a few weeks.

Turbo wise for 600+ I would get one of the new billet 62mm turbos, or your standard T67, or even billet 67 with a .68-70 housing. But if you are determined to use the T70, at the verey least get a .68-70 turbine housing but you will still lag into tomorrow like IJ said.

I'd get this setup with the .70 A/R
http://store.driftmotion.com/static/i-1jz67mmturbokit.php
with a good standalone ECU (better than Megasquirt and Stinger), atleast 680cc injectors, 3", possibly 3 1/2" exhaust, FMIC with atleast 2 1/2" intercooler piping, top feed fuel rail, fuel dampener bypass, a 2nd fuel pump (needed when you want to go over 400 RWHP), electronic boost controller (stay far far away from the manual boost controllers since they're known to be problematic), a good radiator (Koyo if you have the hydrofan, Mishimoto if you have the clutch fan), and cams (machined 2JZ-GTE or aftermarket).

Because of the power level, I'd also upgrade your entire brake system to a BBK setup (ARZ's setup for the front and rear is around $3k and is well worth every penny), as well as getting some good wide and sticky tires as well as upgraded suspension (coilovers, or the Tokico's with upgraded springs), poly bushings, and sway bars. This should get you a really good setup that will meet your goals.
