wish i can get a handgun, the laws in australia are rediculously tight, have to join a pistol club, attend a shoot meeting every weekend for 3months continuous to become a member, then get a letter supporting you in a application for a pistol licence after 12months, then u gotta go to the police station and apply for pistol lic, When you go go buy a handgun you have to fulfil the requirements of what caliber you want and what are you going to use it for (target shooting) and the club will need to support your application for that caliber.
Also you need to attend meets every 3months (iirc) to keep your lic current,
then if you get approval you can only get a .357 as the largest caliber handgun (.45 were "bought back" by the govt along with semi auto rifles, pumpaction shotties and large capacity magaines)
You also need to instal gunsafes and pass inspection, the police can call up and visit anytime and see your safe, who has the keys/combination and try to trick the household into showing them where the key/combinations are (if the gun owners not home)
I was seriously considering joining up the pistol club but all this hassle has put me off gun ownership. I attended a few meets, shot a assortment of different guns, but after being told this information got disheartened and took up boxing instead (so i can pound someone into braindamage/break their jaw/nose/cheekbones)

Australia can only get bolt action rifles with about a 5shot mag or something like that.
Everytime theres a shooting the govt starts up a scare tactic and uses that as a excuse to tighten gun ownership/control for the mass hysteria it whips up.

Well, it looks like the regular idiot crew decided to start talking out of their asses. So time to lay out some fact.

Gun control will not curb gun violence or deaths. Which one of the over 70,000 gun laws already in effect stopped the recent school shooting? Which one of those laws was it that stopped the beltway snipers? Laws only effect the law abiding. Career criminals could give two shits about what is legal or not for them to be doing. More gun laws simply increase crime as it disarms the law abiding public, making them easy sheep to defrock.

However, fewer gun laws in fact does reduce crime. This correlation is very clear from FBI crime statistics. Every single state that has enacted shall issue CCW laws has had an immediate drop in crime. This is fact. Every state that has enacted castle doctrine has had their home invasions, robbery, domestic violence, and rape crimes drop to half of what they were. This is fact.

Citizens with firearms prevent 2.5 MILLION crimes each year. Almost 7000 times a day someone with a gun (not a cop) is able to prevent a rape, murder, kidnapping, or other violent crime. What is a criminal’s biggest fear? In study after study it is always one thing. Not cops, or jail time; it is always armed citizens.

Of the crimes committed with firearms, 77% of those guns were stolen. It doesn’t matter if a criminal could have bought it even if he wanted to. He would simply steal it. As said earlier, gun laws only effect the law abiding.

You can not compare the US to culturally dissimilar countries. Japan has almost zero crime, correct. But then again Japan has almost zero crime of any nature. Japan is a very servile, caste oriented society; 180 degrees from America. If you want to compare America with another country you compare it to one of similar culture. In England in Ozzie land when guns were all but banned rapes, murders, home invasion, and violent crimes skyrocketed. Criminals flocked to England to take advantage of the disarmed populace. Where as in Sweden where every adult male has a fully automatic military rifle in their house, they have one of the lowest crime rates in the EU. Hell even Canada since their gun enactments of 77 has had their murder rate steadily increase as well.

Per capita the US murder and violent crime rate has been continually dropping. As more and more states (aside from Kommiefornia) enact shall issue CCW, the trend of the late 90s, crime continues to decrease. This is FBI crime stat FACT.

Now I know some people like to talk out of their asses about what the US should and shouldn’t do. But then these people are either high school drop outs, or foreigners that know dick about America. America was founded by a group of revolutionaries with a distain for the government. The second most important thing to them after free speech was firearm ownership. Let that sink in for a second. Right after they created a law that people are allowed to say whatever they want, they made it black and white that citizens should NEVER be disarmed. It was more important to them than making sure the government couldn’t forcibly throw you in jail for no reason, or randomly take your house, or trial by jury, or any of the other amendments. There is no need to interpret it, it’s very clear. Here is what they had to say about it:

"The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference; they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." ~ George Washington.

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." ~ Alexander Hamilton.

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property." ~ Thomas Paine.

"Americans need not fear the federal government because they enjoy the advantage of being armed, which you possess over the people of almost every other nation." ~ James Madison.

"Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." ~ Thomas Jefferson.

"The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun." ~ Patrick Henry.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes" ~ Thomas Jefferson Wow, who would have guessed?

"To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." ~ George Mason.

"The said Constitution be never construed... to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms." ~ Samuel Adams.

"But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, and one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible." ~ Hubert Humphrey.

Now this one is just for all the socialist tards out there.
"By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia', the 'security' of the nation, and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms', our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important." ~ John F. Kennedy. That’s right, your lefty hero that started the Vietnam war and the Cuban missile crisis.

America was founded on the Don’t Tread on Me ideals. Understand that before you talk. Or… Try having a government that doesn’t completely recall every politician because of fraud and corruption, before you talk about the US. FYI, that was directed at Canadians for their recent entire government reelection SNAFU.

There are some people that are so stupid as to think guns cause racial oppression (they were shut up pretty soundly in the gun thread). But then again these are the same retards that think it’s okay that an 80lb woman doesn’t need a gun because she can just karate chop that 280lb multiple rapist with a knife, and she’ll be fine. Or that because you have never needed a gun, in your isolated existence in bumbfuck sibera; it means that no one else anywhere needs one either?

I simply ask, what’s the deal? Still living in mommy and daddies house, sheltered from the world? Or is it a learning disability? What could actually prompt someone to spout such nonsensical tripe? I’m seriously wondering what could make some little shit still in high school living with mom in dad in a totally different country; think that he actually knows his ass from a hole in the ground about American government, or even American culture? It has to be some sort of cognitive learning disability, that’s the only reason that could explain so many retarded ass comments.

Sadly, the majority of American youths are just as ignorant as those you refer to above.:3d_frown:

Your whole post was excellent and well thought out. Bravo and Amen!

Thank you Outofstep that was a very good post . I was attempting to make that point also. That gun ownership is apart of what makes up american culture . That it is in our roots .That if our ancestors were not armed they wouldn't have been able to revolt. Maybe education is the answer . Teach them how to use a firearm . That it is not a toy . I learned to fire a pistol when I was 12 it was a ruger blackhawk 357.with a 8 inch barrel dirty harry shit . Taught me pretty fast that it wasn't a toy.

Im surpised outofstep was the first to mention Sweden. I've had the fortune to become friends with a Swede whilst I was in High School he was an exchange student. Every male swede after the age of 18 is automatically enlisted in the swedish army. They are trained, armed and ready to defend themselves and county. Often times doors are not locked...keys are left in cars at the home...children can play late into the night...all because nobody dare commit a violent or non-violent crime knowing the consequence be deadly.

Outofstep you know we see eye to eye on most everything and i really enjoy reading your posts...

Beyond all that, this thread is/has been great so far...lets all tone down the mudslinging towards other members and keep the mud flying at rosie o'donnell.....she's a big bitch and theres lots of her to cover.

Great post outofstep.

I think alot of this mass "hippy ideaology" is actually comming from the colleges and professors these days.

Alot of what is taught these days in the college class room is professor theory, not actual fact.

Remember that generation that was talked about?

They are teaching in college now. "Do what you will - as long as it doesn't involve me. If it feels good do it. Don't be so closed minded."

Sound familiar?

Thats because that generation was branded with those ideals.

BULL SHIT IDEALS I might add.

And now they are preaching them to the generations of today in the college classrooms, MTV, media, etc etc etc.

Also, we are a counrty of arms as you stated.

I think it would be a great dishonor and outright disrespect for those who died in war or defending our country if the government took away our right to bear FIREARMS.

Don't let the little hippie commies fool you - "The right to BEAR ARMS" is for and defines FIRE ARMS, not a knife or a whiffle ball!

I've always said gun control was a steady hand, but seriously the bad guys love places where guns are outlawed. (Look at Washington DC. Guns are banned there, and it's one of the least safe places to live in the USA.)

Here in the Intermountain West, I love owning guns. :) Keeps the bad guys away, and the laws actually protect me when a citizen has to shoot and kill a bad guy under the right circumstances. (LIke when your life is in danger, or the bad guy is taking your property.)

Give you all a good example.

Few years ago in Chyenne, WY, I was in a parking lot talking to some co-workers, and heard Pop!, Poppopopop... Basicly 5 pops with a slight delay after the first one, then 4 in a row... I said "That sounds like small arms fire..." and the other guys are like "nah, that's a backfire..." I'm sure it's gunfire, and said so, but we went to lunch and did not think any more about it...

Till that night on the local news there is a story about this guy who shot and killed a thief who had just held up the mini-mart across the parking lot from where I was standing....

Here's the scoop. Local guy and his wife pull up to the store, and he see's this dude holding up the teller. (The local man immediately pulls his CCW, and prepares to engage the thief.)
The thief walks out, and starts walking away from the guy and his wife who are sitting in the car, in the parking space.
The local guy get's out of his car, and shoots the thief who is armed, but has tucked his pistol into his pants, in the back 5 times, killing him dead on the spot.

Ok in CA, the guy who shot the thief would be in jail, or possibly even get the chair.

In WY, they did not even take his gun away, and was only after the liberal lawers in town squeeled for two weeks that he was fined 50.00 for discharging a firearm inside city limits. (I belive the judge waived the fine, warning the man he would make him pay the 50.00 if he discharged his weapon inside city limits again...There was some talk of a "Disturbing the peace" charge, but it was never seriously considered... LOL)

I love Cheyenne.. If your a good, honest law abiding citizen of the world, you have NOTHING to be worried about in that town, or most of them here in this area.

If your a thief and out there to do us harm, we will shoot your lousy ass, and plant you 6' under without delay or discussion.

I just don't think having an armed populace is a bad idea.

Sweeds and the Swiss would agree with me. (I belive it's the law they have to keep a fully automatic military rifle in their house, and know how to use it.)'

Pretty good deterrent to crime when the owner of the house your breaking into has the ability to fight back. (And his neighbors all have the ability to ruin your day as well.)

However, I gave you the benefit of the doubt and spelled more words correctly in my paraphrasing of your crybaby emo break down.

But I'm sure you have better "thigns" to do, instead of act big "infrotn" of the folks here on SM. That's why "yuo" won't "comaprison" your education to mine.
