Anyone else have this problem

i have thought through the solutions and stock replacement is the best idea in my case. So i asked my service manager to order the part, and one incorrect part later i got the right one, and three of the five clips needed for the change.

upon removing the old molding i was able to not damage the plastic clips i already special ordered. so i will be replacing all of them anyways (when the other two come in). shown here.

i have not yet installed the new molding shown here,

upon removing the old molding i do not believe that it will be easy to reinstall (as i was thinking about doing from a pick-n-pull car), to a good condition used molding, and make it look good. the little hold down clips that are part of the molding itself, were bent up pretty well upon removal.

if anyone is interested in this the part numbers are as follows,

molding 75571-14190 X 1
clips 75039-14020 X 5

Who was it that replaced the window moldings with some really nice generic molding the glass shop had in stock when he changed out his windows?

GL with putting in the new molding. I have that issue as well.

i know some people that recommended stripping the black plastic down and just getting it professionaly painted then clear coated i think. they said it looks realy good and doesnt crack like the plastic does after a while

I peeled my plastic off and painted with spraycan flat black- it's held up for a year so far. But I just did it as a temporary fix-
I got a new one in a bag that I'm saving for the repaint.

I pretty sure that's for the front window.

If you have the coin that is better way to go. I'm replacing one also with a new.

I have to replace it on all 3 of my supras, as they're all peeled/cracked/rusty...

I sprayed my 89's with a rubberized spray called "PlastiDip" so far it's held up really well, but I'd rather just replace it..

Was looking for some of the plastiDip to coat a couple of screwdrivers. Where did you get it?

I have 5 empty cans at home, I love the stuff so much...

still can't find it in white though, that'd be great for my 89..

Whoa! I was gonna mention Plasti-Dip spray, didn't think anyone else used it.
I would definitely recommend doing that. The stuff is awesome!

Mine is also in horrible shape, typical wear. This is the piece that I'm trying to get in CF by retro-spec (with the squirter deleted). This piece in CF would be GREAT!

Anyone agree? lol. Seriously though.

Mine are splitting more and more everyday, the top peice is doin ok right now but the sides are wrecked. Probably just gonna strip the plastic off and rattle can them until i find a hatch that hasnt had sealant pumped through it to seal the glass and rust like mad.
