My intent is to build a reliable, very durable engine, capable of racing in a 12 hour endurance race. Some of my fellow Club members think I'm nuts showing the competition what the engine has undergone. On the other hand I said that SCCA can't DQ me for not documenting what internal improvements went into this build... Here is a set of pictures of the enduro build: the engine builder is M&B Cylinder Heads, Portland Oregon.
More to come... Van

Here's more... M&B also did the crank lightening and balancing. Here's a link to vids of the build: http://www.youtube.com/RaceReady7m . If you don't like them, don't look! :icon_bigg Van

And more... Ceramic coatings were done by Finish Line Coatings, Milwaukie Oregon: thermal dispersant on the outside, teflon oil shedding coating inside the block; pistons are coated on the top with thermal barrier, skirts with moly and teflon oil shed coating, underside. ATI damper, Probe pistons, Eagle rods, Ishihara -Johnson crank scraper, Spec flywheel. Van

TMS, 2 MM MLS, head gasket to keep the stock comp ratio. After decking the block .5 MM (to get below the errosion on the old deck), and giving the head a polish. Head pics will be coming out on Wednesday.
I plan to run the 7M with the same 50trim CT26, so it will likely make better than what it has been making these past four years, 314HP and 333TQ, as I've had extensive head work done on the 7M, plus more ceramic thermal barrier coatings done to the combustion chambers and the valve faces. I plan to see less retard of spark during operation, while using the stock ECU. In addition, with less parasitic drag on the crank and reciprocating parts, the engine will be more effective in transferring the torque to the transmission. There I plan on running 18 weight transmission oil from NEO Synthetic and their LSD oil in the Diff (I'll monitor the temps in both). Should be interesting to see what happens at the track! :burnout:
On the cooling side the oil capacity is up to nine quarts (seven in the oil pan and two in the oil cooler), and the coolant will go through a three row, dimpled tubing, cross flow, two pass racing radiator (at stock pressure and temps), all aided by a thermostatically controlled, 16 inch electric fan.
I'll keep ya posted. Van

Hey!
Hows by u? Ya it's been a long haul since u helped me with the rear sub-frame switch out. I've decided to go full road race. I bought two oil pan bulges through Speedway Motors online, added swinging baffles, and had the pan modded last week and is just finished, and coated at STB Coatings in Portland. Plan is to p/u today and get some pics up on the forum tonight. Van

I did enlarge the oil pan with oil pan buldges and added piano hinge as swinging baffles. I'll try to get pics of the pan up on the forum tonight. Van

You said 7 quarts in the pan, did you enlarge the pan at all? Better baffling?

Thanks!
I added pics of the Ishi-J crank scraper, during test fittings. Oops! A little too close... on that last one. Van

Thanks, it's an 86.5 Supra I've owned since '92, and the only thing I can add is it hasn't been hit, yet... It is super white w/charcoal grey leather interior. Now all that interior is going out and a roll cage in. After that, I'll likely just polish the exterior, as the original finish is in good condition. Van

Subscribed for sure ::w00t:: You're giving me new inspiration that a 7m will survive! As long as you have deep pockets. :biglaugh: Nah, nice build going on, just make sure to get an all out racing oil pump. And just for insurance, are you going to do a dry sump just in case things dont go right?

As planned, here are pics of the oil pan that show the pan baffles, in the last two pics... The baffles use a piano hinge, with a stop welded on the back, so it only swings toward the middle of the sump. Van
