Engine is almost ready to go in:

Just need some help finding where a few hoses go.

What hose goes here?

Left side of the intake manifold. Looks to be coolant, but I don't see anything.

Where does the other end of the idle valve go to with this throttle body set-up go? I know where it goes on the throttle body that came in the car originally.

That coolant tube under the intake manifold goes to the iscv.
Then another one leaves the iscv and goes to the throttle body.
Then another one leaves the throttle body, and goes the the small pipe at the end of the wrap-around coolant pipe, under the egr valve.

ps- the motor's looking good.
Kinda looks like mine.

Thanks! I was looking at your build thread and noticed you by-passed the throttle body and iscv. I think I will just do that.

Your engine is my inspiration. I watch with great anticipation to see it finished.

Still leaves the big hose on the ISCV that points towards the valve cover.

Looking at 17x9.5 et30 all four corners.

Well she got a heart finally.

BUT! the injector seals failed and blew fuel out all over the place, and the starter wouldn't engage. So I pulled the intake manifold off and got the injectors off. Going to see if I can get some local. Still need to figure out the starter issue. Also found that some of the lighting in the gauges don't work.

Intake is only temp. I didn't have the right pipe. Was just to get her started. Valve covers still need to come off and get painted and gaskets need changed.

Anyone know what plug this goes too?? Can't find anything like it.

This plug? The wires are stripped off right out the left of the picture, that is where I am holding it.

How about this one?

Is this the starter wire? It is attached to a Black and Blue wire(this harness is pieced together)

What sensor goes here? I can't seem to find anything in the wiring diagrams I am looking at.

Figured I would bump this to see if anyone had any answers to my questions. I am about to head home and start putting it together. I am going to just make up my own starter set-up with my push buttons I bought. I wanted it running before I started, but it seems I have no other choice. I am determined to get it running tonight though.

As far as i can find, that Black and white wire is the starter wire. It is soldered to a black and light blue wire, which in the wiring diagram for the starter system, is the starter wire. Although to my knowledge it should be positive when in the start position. It is grounded at all times though? Am I missing something?

Well I have a thread in the technical section, but I am having a major issue.

With the car off, I have constant 12v on the wires I should have constant, but I also have 12v on switched power wire. If I attach a switch the the constant power wire to turn on an LED, it cuts the power on the switched power wire to 7v when i turn on the LED. If I turn the ignition switch to "ACC" it does absolutely nothing. Turn it once more to "ON" and it shuts off my "constant power" wires and turns everything on(except accessories?). Turn it to the "Start" position and all the light turn off/dim as if the car was starting, but it won't trip the starter. I only get .19 volts to the starter trigger wire. All the fuses seem to be good. How would I go about testing the relays?

Seems I have Narrowed down the starting problem. Looks to be in the cabin harness, so out comes the harness:

Looking at buying a used one to see if It helps any. I hate to try to find the issue in that mess of wires.

decent choice.... these are what I choose, in a 17X9 +25.. and they stick out a mm or 2 with a 255/40/17(?)

I'll see if I can't button up the suspension and set her down for a photo this weekend, hopefully stick that into the wheel fittment thread....

I think I am just going to megasquirt this engine. Will give me something to learn on and Not a lot to hurt with an N/A engine compared to a turbo 2jz. Possibly picking up some LS2 coils for a great price off craigslist. I just need some sensors after that.

Might have found my starter issue?

Seems that resistor may be dead. I can't get a reading out of it. Anyone know what Ω that is suppose to be? If I can just replace the resistor it may be cheaper than finding another module.

Edit: It is a 1 ohm resistor for the interior lighting control.

Few Updates. Ditching the Stock ECU and harness. Too many unknowns. Getting everything ready for Megasquirt. Wideband is going to be here today.(Amazon has a great price on the Innovate MTX-L BTW) CLT/Open Element IAT sensors should be here saturday.

Picked up some LS Truck coils off craigslist this morning.

I went and looked at a 2jz at the junkyard, and tried looking for a 1zz car(for the coils). They had one corolla and the engine was gone :/

One last thing I need is the distributor plug with pigtail. I have a good distributor, just never got the harness. So I don't have the plug. Anyone know where I could get one?

How she looks right now. The headlight was up to get at some bolts.

Anyone know where to grab the metal bracket that holds the nose piece on? Mine was completely rusted to small tiny bits and ripped out of my nose piece.

Started working on the housings for the HID's. The one on the right has been modified. Lens comes off with a little heat.

I just read completely through this build and I think that you are definately keeping a positive outlook on the build which is a plus. I am definately going to keep following this one.

It looks a lot worst than it is, but I do try to stay positive. I thought it was going to be running two? weeks ago... I am contemplating ripping the engine back out of it and getting some things done.

I had to rig up a coolant line to the heater(I used the wrong metal coolant line that wraps around the engine, and didn't have the open port for the heater core). Somethings still need paint as well. I will be amazed if it runs right when it gets started. Still a little unsure about the timing.

Been a long time since the last update. I yanked the engine out due to what I thought was transmission leak. Turns out it was the rigged up coolant hose set-up. So Fixed the coolant hose issue and replaced the seals in the transmission. Put it back in and got to the point at which she starts... The ignition switch still won't engage the starter. The ECU clicks, but nothing happens. So I rigged up a starter wire and such. Started it up and it wouldn't really run, checking timing was a pain in the butt. We eventually found that I had installed the distributor one tooth off. Fixed that and she fired right up. Now to get her one color and put the interior back in. Excited to see her running!

944568_10151768794151011_2013587249_n.jpg

She needs cleaned up real bad. Once I get the exhaust on and the interior in, I'll pull her out for a good cleaning. Still have a long road ahead of us.

Anyone have Oil psi chart while running and what temp I should look for the car to be at operating temperature? I installed the Prosport Gauges in place of the stock ones, and just realized that I don't know what normal is haha.
