Agreed! I've driven a few auto supras but none with a th350 and a high stall :).

I had a MK4 with a th400, a manual valve body, and a 3200 stall. Not a fun car to drive every day but man it was fun at a stop light.

I don't have a manual valve body at this point. Still on the fence about getting one. Whats your experience with them? I'm excited for the auto knowing that it will be a pain on the street.

Another question if you don't mind answering it. I'm going to run a gt4294 turbo. What stall speed do you think I should run? I was planning on running something between 3600-3800. The car has 3.73 gears and I want to beable to get out of the hole.

The manual valve body was just like having a clutchless manual and with the ratcheting shifter it really wasn't horrible.

Now the 3200 stall was a whole different issue. I had a t61 on the car and ran around 18-20lbs. Going from a stop was always a challenge just because it seemed like it took ages for the TC to engage and then when it did you always had boost built so easy starts were difficult.

I can't imagine what it will be like with a higher stall. It always seemed so gutless unless you were WOT. If you are looking for quarter mile times then it is the way to go. My setup was within spitting distance of 10's and it wasn't running much more then 500hp.

If you want some good informed advice on stall speed go over to ls1tech and read. I love those guys over there because there is very little bs and lots of good tech. I have learned more about cams from that site then anywhere else.

Did you have to moddify the tunnel to get that th350 to fit?

Yes sir, I still have to clearance the sides more and the spot where the dip stick runs up through. It's an extremely tight fit.

So why didn't you run the a340 bellhousing and the a340 to TH adapter so that way it wouldn't be so big?

Curious cause I'm in the middle of the same tranny swap

This is how mine was run. You limit yourself to the toyota TC or a toyota sized TC.

If you run the a340 bellhousing it forces you to run a custom 9" TC. I'm gonna get the fuel and blown ATI 9".

ya pass on that whole custom converter stuff. I bought atfspeeds adapter which utilizes pretty much whatever chevy torque converter I want. I don't mind clerancing the trans tunnel to make that work.

Are you going auto now Albert? I've secretly been creeping on your build :). Very nasty 1jz!

I just sold 3 sets of TC adapters last year after they had been laying around for the past 5. It was a crank adapter and TC plate that worked with the gm bell to he adapter.

MOAR UPDATES!

Well pulled everything out of the car Thursday night. Took a shot in the dark thinking something inside the transmission was messed up. Took a th350 we had lying around (it was a unilug at that lol) had been sitting there for 10 years came out of a 68 buick skylark. I remember parting out the car when I was very young. Slapped everything back in and the car now moves. I took it out Sat night for awhile. Definitely a few things I have to work out. The car has some harmonic vibration above 50mph. The mk iv tt wheels I put on off my parts car had been sitting in the mud for several years so i'm wondering if the tires are flat spotted. Either that or the bell housing may need to do some more self clearancing. I also discovered a minor transmission leak after foot brake boosting the car. I'm glad I wasn't far from home. I should have that worked out tomorrow. After driving the car for awhile i'm realizing the tune is off so i'm going to mess with that some till I can get something scheduled with Jesse. Were closing on a house on July 15th so money is kind of tight right now. Still hoping to have her track ready soon.

No video yet. Cars just on a 4 psi wastegate spring right now for fun control reasons. Hoping to get the boost controller threw my aem wired up in the next couple days after I get some more miles put on.

More updates...

Lets start with the bad. The th350 in the car I completed cooked. Drained the tranny fluid and it came out looking like bbq sauce. Spent all night swapping transmission out with the one I thought broke. Got everything put back in car drove amazing. Alot of the harmonic vibration was gone and the car shifted solid. Had a nasty oil leak I soon after got fixed. Then that lead to the car making some funny noisy. Ended up with rod knock so the car is currently parked.

The good.... Well there isn't a ton. I went to Rockford, IL and picked up a 2jzge short block from a supraforums member. Engine looks to be in great shape. My girlfriend also surprised me and bought a set of 1200cc precision injectors. Pretty excited I will be going to e85 now to help with the minor increase in compression. I've ordered all my gaskets they should be here thursday and an e85 friendly fuel filter shoudl be here the same day. The only thing I really have left is to purchase an oil feed line. Trying to let the dust settling to make sure funding is still good. I'll get some pictures up here soon :).

Here's some more updates:
I finally got the transmission dip stick leak fixed after struggling for awhile. The cars pretty close to being ready for the track.

Still currently sitting at 25 psi. My tuner and I have been entertaining the idea of turning it up to 30 psi. I'm also adding a 50 wet shot just for spool. You have to sit on the trans for along for it to make around 10 psi. I'm really afraid i'm going to over heat the trans and decided it was a better idea to help make boost another way.

I also received my parts back from a buddy who had them painted. Really impressed with the way everything turned out!
