Yeah I put the rear knock sensor in the hole closer to the front just for access. The rear sensor went bad on my last motor and it was nearly impossible to change without removing the starter, so I moved it up to the front hole and never noticed any difference at all, but it is a lot easier to get to.

More pics, this thing is just about ready to go in. Custom soft lines installed. Made from Aeroquip socketless hose and Russell fittings.

I would believe you should keep it in the rear as it wont be able to sense detonation in the rear cylinders?

Just a theory on why Toyota put two, one for three cylinders? :dunno:

Ya the rear port would probably be ideal but I am not too worried about it. The front one was tapped (this is an NA block) so the deed is done.

BTW here is my water pitcher for dealing with my 100+ degree garage. Home made insulation, then it goes into my playmate refrigerator :p

Ya I am going on vacation in a little over a week so I am trying to get this thing fully functional before I leave. I wish so bad that I had AC in my garage lol. The fact is that I live in an apartment complex, and technically speaking we are not allowed to do any work on vehicles anywhere on the premises. All work I do has to be done with the door closed, so often times it is hotter inside the garage than it is outside, and when you are in AZ I am sure you know that it can be ungodly lol. When I did the engine swap, I had to have the door open for space reasons, so I had to do the work on Sunday morning at about 5AM when it was unlikely that security or apartment crew would be around to say anything. Thankfully I will be moving to a house in a couple months where I can work on my car in peace.

The car should be running by now, I was supposed to get up early before work today and work on it, but I hit snooze for about an hour before going back to sleep completely lol. More work to be done tonight and tomorrow, should be running within the next couple days.

Oh and all the lines and fittings are from Summit, but the fittings are all Russell brand and the hoses are Aeroquip

just read through the whole thread
car looks really nice
glad to see it up and running again
props on sweating your ass off with the garage door shut just to put your car together

BTW: cummins beige makes finding oil leaks on the busses at work very easy
