Hey guys I stumbled upon this and thought it was interesting to see the increasing value of the Mk3 according to this chart and wanted to see what people thought.

Ive noticed this as well.. A lot of for sale threads are popping up at 8, 9 grand.. There are the people who will pay it.. And then there's the people that ramble on and on about how they could pick up an R154 for $50 10 years ago..

Either young kids bought them up and beat them up or they just sat and rusted away. Either way, nicer examples are become more and more scare and the ones that are out there are usually owned by their original restorers/builders who have too much pride in their work to let them go for next to nothing. This is surely a contributing factor to their rising value. I for one will try to hold onto mine and continue to tastefully add to it until I either crash it into a divider or the resale value rises to what I believe it should be.

Haters gonna hate, but these are GOOD looking cars!

I kept my mk3 over the mk4 my self. I sold off a few other cars in my collection but kept my FD3S with 41k miles.

the mk3 is one of the best built cars I have ever owned. Every time I see a cut away of the 7M-GTE I get bonner.

I think clean low millage original mk3s should go for 15-20k or even more. There cheaper prices have made so many get bought and killed.

Very few nice cars around. Ill never part with my 1992 Turbo Teal / Shadow Grey with 66k miles.

I noticed it and thought it was interesting. The last time my car got backed into by a kind elderly gentleman, his insurance valued my 88 at $7,000 and this was back in 2011. After I get it painted I'm curious what the re-appraisal will be.

Its good to see nice cars bringing in the money. Very nice cars are getting harder to come by. Nice to see a window sticker, $25,000 in 1987 was an expensive car. . Some 1992 models tipped in at a little over $30 k new.

This is very nice to see. I'm not sure where my GTE swapped n/a chassis falls into this mix though. Regardless, it's good to see a 90+ mk3 being valued over 10k for "good/excellent" condition.

I go back and fourth on mine often these days, but if I ever came across a 91/92 with a good shadow gray interior and a straight body I'd probably sell my car and switch chassis. A good 91/92 is going to appreciate a good amount in the coming decade or two.

^^ I agree. However I feel the 1992 will be worth more. About 1200 brought to states in 1992 and the only year of true shadow grey interior. The ones with black leather seating surfaces.

I think we tend to overlook Deep Red interior, which was only offered 91-92.

Ive seen more shadow grey interior than I've seen Deep Red. No I'm not talking about Maroon either.

Not sure I've seen that color. Pics?

That took a while. I had to search for pics of this color interior.

I only found two pictures of a leather example. The color is brighter than Maroon, very classy in my opinion and nice when you find a nice example.

Nice find JDMMA70, i have became fond of that red interior and tan ones these last few years. I've never seen the true red interior in person ever. Look's sick as hell.

I'm glad to see the value on these cars going up, but I don't really plan on getting rid of mine so...

Personally I think the leather burgundy looks much better than the cloth, but I may be biased haha.
