So im considering buying a turbo off of someone on sf. Its a CT26 rebuilt with this "GT61" Technology. It is a 61mm wheel. Heres a picture, any input would be nice. Wondering if this GT61 Technology means it has a bigger shaft or what, cause i dont see a ct26 shaft holding up to a 61mm wheel for long.

Yeah im afraid of that having the stock CT shaft, cause if so that thing wont last very long... GrimJack, how long did yours last? Im also going to call the company who rebuilt it (Blouch Turbo) and ask them about this GT61 tech. The only thing im worried about is that tiny tiny shaft just, not holding up at all to that wheel.

Well, now the question is, SP61 or Boss Jr...

EDIT: GrimJack, looking at your two CT26s, whats the differences between them? Pre 89 and Post 89? I notice the oil lines are in different places.

Huh? The upgrade (on the right) has no oil lines on it yet. Other than the upgrade, they're identical as far as I can tell.

Hmm, well i think i got all i need out of this thread before the i call the company, one last thing though. SP61GT (NON BB) vs. LIPP Boss Jr. 61mm Trip Ball bearing. Same prices... what would you go with. Aiming for 400-450rwhp on stock internals/bottom end etc. Auto trans...

Hmm, Blouch. I've heard very mixed things about them. Although they built their reputation on re building/upgrading turbos like the Ct26 back in the 80's-90's, ever since the son took over, supposedly the quality is crap because he wanted such a high turnover rate.

People that know what they're doing like the guys at driftmotion say anything bigger than a 57 trim ct 26 is asking for trouble. The 57 trims can support 350-400 hp im told. If thats not good enough for you, start shopping for a new turbo. unfortunately this means your probably going to need a new exaust manifold, or a flange adaptor. Ive seen flange adaptors on ebay but have never seen one in action, id be afraid of the turbo hitting the strut tower.
In any case good luck to you.

^How long a turbo lasts whether its 57trim or 60-1, its HEAVILY dependent on HOW you use it and abuse it. 3000 miles For GrimJack could be 10000 for another person, or 50 for yet another. Obviously there are tons of other factors but in all reality, its probably the biggest factor.

True, but nobody is upgrading to a 60 trim turbo to shift at 3500 rpms. People that upgrade turbos want more boost. "Abuse" as you call it, is par for the course. 10000mi life doesnt sound so great either. Even 50k isnt to optimistic. When I buy an upgraded turbo I expect it to handle all the flogging I can dish out, otherwise whats the point, just stick to factory spec.
