Why is it that every time I have a problem with this car, that I start thinking sell it or part it out. I have something, I think it's my radio, draining my battery. The car started fine every day of the 4 day holiday, but this morning, I had to put the charger on for a few minutes to get it up to full strength. Once charged, my starter didn't want to work again. I was 45 minutes late for work. I need a daily driver, and use this car for just fun. I like to be a dependable employee.

I have Noah coming over from Mississippi at 12 (he's already en route), I hope it is going to start OK. He's bringing my fan shroud that I sent him money to buy from a neighbor, and I'm hooking him up with some vacuum lines for his boost controller.

I ended up buying a DD again because even tho i just got the supra back from the performance shop, something unrelated failed...wouldnt start, not the battery, not the starter, not the alarm, so now i gotta rerun that line on the starter....

Def a good idea on a DD...you wouldnt happen to want an 03 F250 black on black leather 7.3 turbodiesel would ya :D

ART,

Pull the starter wire, and test how much voltage is getting to the starter.

Not no, but hell no on that gas guzzler.

Damn! It's always something! Do you think it might be the starter signal wire going bad?

Also, try unplugging the radio to see if the electrical drain stops.

Ken,

My wiring harness is only about a year old from Toyota. I tested the starter wire before taking the starter to get repaired lat week. I get about a .4 drop between the battery and the end of the wire when someone is turning the key.

I had no problems going to meet Noah at lunch, and even got a chance to meet Jeff (DrChill). But, while driving around, my radio did cut off on me. I strongly suspect the antenna wire, as there is an adapter wire in there, and it is taped because it didn't want to hold. I'll probably have to do a small bit of soldering.

Noah and John (DrChill) just came over for a part swap. He brought me my fan shroud, and I gave him some Vacuum hose he needed. I was on my lunch, so we didn't work on anything, and I had to cut it short because my daughter's school called, and she was sick.

The starter hasn't given me any more trouble. The drain on the battery is still there, but I believe I have figured out that there is a bad connection in my antenna wire. It is only a problem after a good long overnight rest, and only sometimes on that. I had to jump it off this morning, but I didn't have to yesterday. I'll tear the dash open this weekend instead of working on it in the cold and dark.

Noah, I never saw that post. The battery is only a couple of months old, and generally hold near 12.5 volts or better while not running. It just every now and then has something draining it.

While I am here, I'm gonna post a decent photo from the cruisin the coast meet. For some reason I came across these pics again. This is Me, Noah, and Hal a top the Hard Rock Casino parking garage,

I finally Bought a clutch master cylinder today. I believe it to be be the root of all of my clutch problems with the old, and the new clutch. The threads on the adjustment plunger are stripped, and thus will not adjust completely. I pick it up tomorrow, and will be installing it over this long weekend if the weather permits.

Hopefully this will fix it Scott. I found out that one of my slave cylinder bolts was stripped and not holding good, so everytime I mashed my clutch my slave cylinder would push away from the transmission instead of pushing in the clutch fork.

Today, I will be swapping the clutch master..........Wish me luck!

Yesterday, I paid a visit to the body shop, and discussed a few options. He had told me before that we could actually paint the car in sections if I wanted to. So, my reason for going was to see what it would cost to paint the rear bumper, mold in the Bomex rears, and paint them too. I know I can't paint the whole car yet, but I'd like to try to work towards getting it all Red, even if the reds don't quite match.

He then started spitting out some offers. He said he would have to check into what the best product for molding in the bomex would be. He would send the bumper to be stripped and prepped and paint it for $350, but said there would be more for material to do the molding. As I type this, I wonder........isn't our bumper fiberglass? This shouldn't be to hard. But fiberglass to metal will be different, when I do the sides.

His next idea, and the one I liked, was to do most of the minor body work, and primer the whole car. He said that they now use a urethane primer and clear over it. The cost for this would be about $750. Then when I could, painting over it, would be about $1000. I didn't ask, but I'm sure sending the bumpers, and molding the rest of the Bomex will add to that. The only drawback to this plan is that my first car was primer grey, and I sort of have a fondness. That would kill motivation. He guaranties that his primer job would look better than a $500 paint job at the spray and glow across the street. Should I or should I not go this route??????? My financial position will not allow a full good paint job at this point, and I will NOT settle for less.
