Dang! 4k rpm is pretty sweet to be hitting max boost. Wonder is the 362fmw out spools the standard 360....
Well i ended up getting the s362 fmw. And with a pretty rich base map it starts to spool around 3700 and i hit 12lbs at about 4k. This is including a boost leak and just off the wastegate spring. Spool is pretty much instant in the power band. I should be getting all the kinks worked out by the weekend and I'll update the thread with results

That's pretty much my experience. Spools as soon as you hit the gas.

Also, I wonder why more guys don't run these turbos. They are cheap, they perform, and are supposed to be durable. I'm a truck driver and my freightliner Runs a borg warner. I have never had a turbo go out one me. And we put over 100000 miles a year. I hope my s362 holds up the same.

Hot damn i wonder if my cams really create 500 rpm of lag or if the 362 fmw is that much better. I crack the gate at about 4500 rpm on my 360. And 272s. On a 1jz bottom end

I have the stock cams in still. Also a 1jz. The s362 fmw is apparently supposed to spool like the s360 but put out more power. I have a set of 272s waiting to go in but I decided to hold off on them for a little bit. The 272s do kinda shift the power band to the right so it might be the cams. But then again I'm only running 12 lbs with the wastegate spring and a boost leak. Would probably be a bit laggier with more boost. I will soon find out. Only just made positive boost for the first time yesterday lol. How much boost are you running?

I wonder the same thing. I love Borg Warner turbos. One of the reasons why I bought mine was because of their success in the diesel world with much higher demands.

I am only running 15 psi. I make boost at any rpm over 2500 but the power comes on hard at 4500, which makes for a fun street car with tire burning power in 2nd gear even with 3.73s. Not so great for drifting though. I am considering a set of 2jz usdm cams...

That's not bad even with cams though. Hopefully I can minimize spool time once all my issues are worked out. I wonder how much of a difference the 3.73s make vs the 4.3 lsd I have now. I've been considering dropping down to maybe the 3.91.

You can use both -3 and -4.

But the bigger feed you have, requires a good returnline.
I've seen too many failures due to a poor returnline. It's important that the oil easily gets back to the engine.
