just curious but would a 87 or 88 turbo have the same jump as a NA 87 or 88? since aren't the gears shorter and other small stuff as opposed to 89+?

I'm not sure on this, but I think that the older turbos had 3.91 gears where all the N/A's have either 4.1 or 4.30 gears. 89+ turbos have 3.73 rear ends. I am def. not 100% on that, though.

I get a killer jump in my car, but I guess I'm used to launching. lol

Then again, my N/A diff. probably helps too...

mmkay, when not using a 2-step, anti-lag, or brake boosting. I was mainly citing the turbo's lag and the N/A's more aggressive gearing.

But even then the turbo supra should still be able to jump just as hard as the N/A, minus any break boosting or two-steps and such. I know I make just as much as an N/A car off the line, if not more.

Your forgetting one thing. The N/A has a higher compression ratio. So unless you're into boost off the line(with brake boosting or two step) the N/A will produce more torque RPM for RPM until the GTE starts seeing positive manifold pressures.

Well, you did get a pretty good jump and held him off for a little bit. I'd like to see you to pansies run at the dragstrip. BTW, were you going to bingo that night cause you sure were granny shifting it there.

Which is at 2500RPM, so nope, no jump ;)

In which gear. My 7M never built boost that fast in first gear. Not enough load. This is the reason you can build boost in an automatic off the line. You can load up the engine. Off the line, without two step or brake boosting and identical rear ends, an N/A has the torque advantage. The advantage is short lived, but yes the jump is there.

Raced plenty of N/A's and no they've never "jumped." If you rev the motor up and let the clutch slip off the line you'll build boost because of the load, not to mention that both cars will have the same amount of traction...
