I have a 1989 NA auto car that I am building. The stock 7MGE was a bit rough but I have a solution for that. I will be going with a LS based v8 swap. This build has been in progress since 2012 when I bought my house and finally had a place to work on a project. however that was shortlived and i ended up storing a rock crawler build i was finishing up for my father in my garage for 2 years as the Supra sat outside.

here are some specs

Engine

2004 LM7
bored from 5.3 to 5.7liters
stock ls6 internals
ls6 243 heads
ls2 intake
90mm TB
238/238 113 cam shaft

Trans

stock r154
spec 2+ clutch
pontiac ar5 hydraulic release bearing

onto the pics

I will be picking up the pace a bit more on this project as I am finishing with home improvents for this year.

tucked radiator, griffin 24x19x3 with custom core support and removable upper

more to come soon

yesterday I was able to fab an aluminum fan shroud with a two speed Taurus fan. even with a tucked radiator it eats up a lot of real estate. also almost done with the cold air intake. Im trying to create a sealed socket joint since i want to have the filter housing bolted in and i don't have room for the coupler and clamps.

Recheck your math. Great idea, you are doing it right. When I read the thread title I was thinking somebody needs to do an LS7, if they can find one at a good price.

whats wrong with my math, the lm7 and ls6 share the same crank shaft, i had the bores opened up from 3.78" to 3.9" , 325ci to 346 ci.

Why is that? Was the total cost of the adapter close to a t56?
essentially yes,
r154- $250
adapter$ 450
hyrdaulic slave converions $200

the gearing of the r154 is not really suited to the v8, 1st is too low even with 3.73 rear end, ill figure something out thouhg, maybe run taller tires

You might try the used Toyota gear that is close to 3.5:1. I forget the exact ratio. Any thought to the T56 with the 2.66 first gear? I think one of the others is 2.97 first gear.

You can not bore out a 5.3 to 5.7. .030" goes from 325 to about 330, for example.

I still dont get your confusion, I managed to bore each cylinder .120" from factory to fiit the larger pistons.

the 3.55 ratio is hard to come by. even jawgear her is sacramento who used to be a supplier of them got out of that business

some work from the weekend
aluminum radiator shroud and i managed to squeeze in a 2 speed taurus radiator. I will use some foam gasketing to seal it later. Also I built my 4" intake under the head light. I will eventually build a
an airbox to house the filter element. I am using a LS3 cartridge maf instead of the ls1/6 style inline maf sensor. I built a slip/socket joint so that i can have a good seal with out having to use hose clamps for the piping that connects to the filter housing. It is covered by the intake hose at the moment. Bon Appetite enjoy.

on a 7M it's silly to try to get displacement with overbore but that doesn't carry over to every other engine.

I was not speaking of the 7M.

I want to see his dyno with that cam and those heads. It should be healthy and fast. I also like the idea of the taller gear to pull against.

next to work on will the coolant surge tank, it will go where the NA power steering reservoir used to sit on the passenger side. I will probably start fabbing that up this week some time. I plan on adding ports so that I can pull the coolant lines in to an ever so slight vacuum and suck up the coolant out of the bottles, should help with filling the system and not need to burp it at all
