So decided to get a 3sgte, to rebuild. (spun rid bearing) and go Megasquirt II right off the bat to to a dizzy delete, since it's on the back of the head, and will go through the firewall.

There are plenty of write ups with 3s on MS2. Never done MS2 so it's new which is cool to mess with. Trigger wheel and sensor will be needed to do a dizzy delete and I'll prob go with 1zz coils.

My major obstacle for this project is what I'm going to do about te front sump oil pan.

Any one have any ideas? I have a couple but wanted to see what you guys think first.

You know... they did use the 3s in the GT500 Supras... they might have a nice oil pan setup. ;)

Cant find any info on it tho.

My guess is they used a dry sumo setup since it was a RACECAR

More than likely a dry sump, yes. What's wrong with that though? I would think that a dry sump would be ideal for a drift car.

Worst case scenario, you *are* a fabricator. ;)

They also used these engines in a number of cars, although I'm not certain of oil pan orientation. RS200, Altezza, also used these engines, might look into those.

Pros about this motor:

Already rear sumped (1996 version)
Bolts to w series trannys using w59 bell
Exhaust is on the passenger side.
Running a ct26 is easier from log manifold
Really reliable motors

Cons:
Weak internals (rod) 300-350rwhp capable
Distributor based ignition (95>are coils)

All and all I'm happy with what I got.

Gonna try to get it in running NA first, wake the motor back up, (sat for
A couple years)

I think we have decided to just put new bearings and rings in since it is cheap approximately $100 and also do a metal head gasket while it is apart for future boost. This will give a good baseline and piece of mind knowing the motor is in fresh condition.

Well I may go ahead an build the motor for some serious boost.

My brother-in-law has a SDS EM-4 standalone that he said he would just give to me because its collecting dust. LCE make everything for the 3RZ so I can buy the brackets/adapters for distributorless, hall sensor etc etc etc.

Free=cheap. So I may buy forgerd internals. So I wont have to take it apart later.

You already are a log manifold dude... long, skinny, and exposed to lots of heat? :naughty: :p
