How much does it weigh ?
My SUPRA is 3690 lbs..
With me in it.
That car is about 2000lbs with a 300lb DRIVER.(correct).
NICE I want a light car NOW..

Well the engine and rear axle are pretty heavy, so its probably about 2500 lbs maybe? And I weigh 130lbs, lol.

On youtube i seen a mean ass 280z with a 7m in it, he would be cruis'n at about 45-50 mph and just floor it and light the tires up like nuth'n. You gotta love that power to weight ratio with supra engine swaps!

I honestly don't know if a lot of people here are lying or I am just a terrible driver or I'm making A LOT less HP than I think I'm making.

I am running a 86.5 supra with the sports package (so lsd) with 5yr old Michelin Pilots 225/45s. The engine is an Aristo 2JZ-GTE with an equal length manifold with a T-67 and full 3" exhaust straight with no cats. I am running 12psi and am seeing 11.0 to 12.0 at the top of 3rd and 4th on the strip.

I am running 13.3@109 and there are guys here who are running 10psi on a stock CT26 with 3.93 gears (or whatever rear end 3.9#) who are running low 13s and claim that with slicks they will be high 12s WTF.

I'm starting to think I must have an issue with my motor or I am making like 100whp.

well you're only running 12psi, and trapping 109mph depending on weight mods thats not too far off. as for the 13.3, are you boggin off the line? what was your 60' time?

60 ft = 2.275 and the weight is stock 86.5 MKIII. Ya there is a bit of bogging. I cant believe that I can pick up 1/2 second on just a better launch and no bogging but then again I'm not a strip expert so I guess a good driver could put my car into the 12s

yea sounds like the driving, basic rule of thumb is, for every .1 you take off on the 60' its .2 in the 1/4, doesnt work for everything tho.

Drive better. A 109 trap is good for mid 12s.

davidgboyle I was thinking the same thing...but with my 101mph I should be in the 13's I think. But its like my damn tranny won't go get into gears as fast as it should when I'm hammering on it. Just sits at the gate for what feels like FOREVER!!! Maybe the W58 doesn't like the boost...

I ran the W58 really hard with a 7M and a 60-1 CT at 14psi and it loved the boost.

I went 13.6 @ 102. 101 is definately a 13 second trap speed.

Yah I know, I'm a little upset. It's strange though, it just hesitates to get into gear. I have the Nash mans SS but thats not to blame I'm sure. It's almost like it takes a fraction of a second for the clutch to let go when I push the pedal in.

I did a 102 trap as well...but it wasn't my fastest ET:nono:

i did 13.3@104 w/ 275whp, does it really take another 125whp to get 4 tenths?

Either your car is lighter than you think or makes more power than you think !!
The math doesn't add up!

SO WHAT IM GETTING FROM THIS IS THE BEST TIMES ARE RAN BY PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO DRIVE THESE CARS, SO HERES SOME DRIVING QUESTIONS: What rpm do you launch at? What rpm do you shift at and do you have to get in and out of the throttle to keep the wheels from spinning or do these cars gain traction quickly enough to keep that throttle buried? I have never ran my car at the strip so i have no idea what kind of grip difference i will see, my car on the street will get loose every time all through first and second launching at 5500 rpm's (will rarely get loose at third, but will go through fourth in the rain). So would i make a lot more traction on the strip? Or am i in desperate need of radials? Lol

Typical on street tires in the street . Get drag radials , street slicks or slicks . The track is stickier, think of all the prep and old rubber left there. As far as launching your car everyones car is different find your own sweet spot. Its like leaving from the stop light but you want to be first to come out. Just not spinning tires like hell . Also the Driver Mod has been proven from Day One . Get out some time .The Race Track is there for a Reason.

Yeah when i get her done i will do that first thing, i just wanted some other people's interpretations of how the car feels. I know mine won't be exactly the same i just want an idea. I take direction well, i know a lot about car control but i have never driven on a drag strip and have no idea what the tarmac feels like. I have no idea what rpm i should launch at and some vehicles if you keep laying into them they come into traction well and run quicker rather than dethrottling it and having it bog out. Oh well, i guess i will just have to see for myself. I will post my supra build here sometime soon when i am at a piont where it will move along quickly. Need cash!
