I have an 87 turbo supra with the good ole' 7m and have really been wondering, what steps should i take for a good strong 12 second pass? I know a twelve doesn't sound like much but that will be a strong time for a street car. Oh and here are the things i will not do to achieve this time, will not get rid of the a/c, any interior bits, basically anything body wise stays and any creature comfort as well. To be specific what type of tires are recommended and is my BOSS stage 4 good enough with the lexus afm and 550's? Its a turbo capable of supposedly 450-500hp. Is that enough power?Any info would be great.

the answer to your question would be yes. if you have a solid 400rwhp and can drive that will get you into the high to mid 12's

I have a JT58 that uses the stage 4 boss turbo with a 60-1 comp wheel and I've run many 12's with my lex afm and 580's. I'll be going for 11's in a couple of weeks.

Where in TX are you?

I got decent tires and had a 2.1 60' time and still only ran 14.2 with a est 275 whp. That's why I'm interested in his rear end and tranny.

Last year on a stock motor... and 9psi, I ran 12.9 @110mph on TINY tires (195's)
Serious weight mod though.

steps:
Remove 7M
Install to first gen celica
make 12 second pass

I live in silsbee, its near Beaumont and beaumont is near Houston. Actually as far as im concerned 12's are good considering it weighs almost as much as a truck and most street cars don't even run thirteens. I haven't taken my car to the strip yet but my goal is to run a solid twelve, i haven't got my motor complete but my power goal is at least 400 to 450 on pump gas and stock internals with a mild port and polish and the afformentioned parts. The only reason why i have concerns of reaching that goal is the fact that there are supra's with 600 to 700 barely making 11's, why do you guys think they struggle after hitting the twelves?

Oh and hey frontierguy, do you plan on going to the Texas nationals this year? Oh and love the rear tires, are those weld wheels on the back? Love them drag racing wheels.

Texas Nationals? TX2K9 you mean? I went and raced and was in charge of the MK3 classes with Victor. Next year will be even better. 2010! I'm going to be going to IFO in Ennis this year as well in NOV, hoping for a mid 11 sec pass. Hoping for a high 11 soon. Love my Welds/MT setup! Best mod any car can have!!!

Oh yeah I have run a 14.1 @ 96 MPH on stock boost, because my controller wasn't working at TX2K6. Also ran several 13.4 passes on 14 psi with really bad 60' times. It's all about your launch! A good 60' time with some good tires, will lower your time dramatically even on a stock car.

not exactly sure on the rear end came from a 88 turbo, but i know its not the 4.30. has a r154 tranny, no weight redux at all.

it was a mustang dyno, i made those numbers on, but that was once i added my safc2, the run was done with 550/lex, 3" tbe, wga shimmed to 12psi, stock 7mgte.

2.1 60', and it was 105.7mph not 104

Nice RT!

With that setup you must be over 275 man. Not sure what the 88 turbo came with but I think I'm quickly learning why all the turbo guys say the 4.3+W58 is too much gear once you start boosting:( But it's damn fun around town.

Either way good stuff, what mind of rubber?

If you guys just practice, I've got BFG G Force 275/40/17's and can cut some 1.9, 2.0's consistantly with those with my 5 spd. Now I'm looking for a 1.7 with my MT DR's

Haha the time in my sig was my first run at a track ever and the best of that night. One run I ran 102mph but a 14.3 IIRC. I'm only rocking 245's potenza's. I'm gonna bump it up to 15psi and C16 next time, see how she wakes up:) Maybe blow up:icon_frow
