1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

I have finised machining the flywheel for the tilton twin plate clutch and just have to order new discs with the propper spline count for the r154. I also need to machine up the adapter plate to go between the auto bellhousing and the trans. So that I can bolt them up for a test fit and so I...

1UZ-FE Hesitation, Sputtering, Throttle Lag, and Backfire...

Check the crank and cam VR sensors, I had more problems with the stock crank trigger than anything else on my 1UZ. I was able to convert it to hall effect when I went full stand alone and its been good ever since.

Carlisle PA inport and style show may 11th and 12th

I will be there again this year in my black 1uz swaped supra. Any one else from supramania planning on attending? It would be cool to do a lunch or dinner meet up and photo shoot if any one comes.

    3.4L V-6 swap?

I would agree with te72, the 1UZ would be a great swap for what you want. I have bought 3 1uz engines, all under 100K miles with uncut harnesses, transmission, ecu, and all accessories and never payed more then $500. I ran a stock 1UZ engine with 5 speed swap in my MK3 for several years before...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

I got around to test fitting the dry sump pump on the 1GZ over the weekend. Its a 3 stage Razor pump and I mounted it in the old AC compressor location. I am planing on belt driving it off a second pulley on the water pump.

    Eliminating body trim

How about the fiber glass trim from retro spec? Fiberglass should be much easier to paint and work with then the stock rubber trim. I remember that there were some members on hear who had some problems with the guys at retro spec but I don't remember the details. Maby the guys at shine auto...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

Just bought a used but nice 3 stage pump. It looks to be made by stock car products or weaver or race line. It can tricky to tell some of there pumps appart from just a few pictures. I would have loved to have the cash to spend on a new pump but a used one in good shape pulled from a running...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

Its not so much a matter of lowering the engine as its the stock sump and the MK3 subframe want to be in the same place at the same time.

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

Yes, the bottom of the engine is flat and as far as I can tell the rotating asymbley does not stick out past the bottom of the block. In theory the engine could be run with a flat plate bolted on inplace of the pan. That's kind of my plan for a custom rear sump pickup for the dry sump. I will...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

LoL, I will see what new pics I can post up but most of my progress lately has been in the R&D and parts research which while important is not very photogenic. I think I am getting close to a final plan for the dry sump system and am looking at going with a 4 stage pump and a butler built tank...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

I have been researching the dry sump setup as that's one of the first things that needs to be done so I can test fit the engine. I also need to have the engine mated to my R154 for the test fitting so I have been working on finishing my tilton tripple plate flywheel and trying to deside on what...

Conversion from NA to SUPERCHARGED NOT Turbo....

At 12,800 RPM the f11-005 has about 20 LBS TQ and 19 HP if my math is correct. Probably wouldn't spin a big old 871 but should be just fine for a 1.5L to 3.0L whipple or autorotor style supercharger.

Conversion from NA to SUPERCHARGED NOT Turbo....

The VOLVO/PARKER F11-005 hydraulic motors are rated for maximum intermittent of 14,000RPM and max continuous of 12,800RPM. They are used on hydraulic chain saws and other such high speed apps. They only weigh about 11 LBS and are about 4 inch by 4 inch by 5 inch. The eaton M112 supercharger...

    Engine dies/died

Maby something to do with the circuit open relay or the OEM alarm? I know both of them can cut power to to much of the car. My supras wiring is very modified so I can't help as much as some others on hear but just thought I would through out some ideas.

Conversion from NA to SUPERCHARGED NOT Turbo....

There is also a neet trick that I found for running a supercharger that I have not had to use yet but is allways my fall back plan. On military diesel generators they run 1 or 2 roots superchargers but to make repairs and maintenance easy they run them hydraulicly. Same basic idea as the...

Conversion from NA to SUPERCHARGED NOT Turbo....

I have a 1.6L whipple twin screw on the 1UZ-FE v8 in my MK3 supra. I do love it when people ask me "is it turbo" and I can say nope.

Conversion from NA to SUPERCHARGED NOT Turbo....

I am a big fan of superchargers my self and I have both supercharged and turbo cars. One of the first things that you need to consider is what type and displacement of supercharger you need. I prefer and would recommend a twin screw like a whipple, kenne bell, autorotor or sprintex over a...

Thinking about 2uz swap in a 89 mkiii

I forgot to to add the flywheel into my list of swap parts. I got a pair of them (i think they were the first 2 he finished) for only $200 from suprarunner back in 07 because I helped him with the R&D and provided him with all the bolt patterns for the W58and R154 supra pressure plates. I...

Thinking about 2uz swap in a 89 mkiii

That's all part of why I am such a big fan of the early 1UZ. They are quite a sturdy engine in stock form and have been run with high boost and held up fine with out building them up at all. The way I look at it costs me $500 each time I have bought a 1UZ, I then sell the cats for $75 each for...

Thinking about 2uz swap in a 89 mkiii

Is there a reason you want the 2UZ over the 1UZ? The 1uz is a fair bit lighter and I beleave cheaper then the 2uz. The big cost to the 1UZ or 2UZ swap will be fitting a manual trans. if you are going with a auto trans then it will be much cheeper.
