What to do with this car

Hey, been working on an 87 NA Supra for a few years now and have come to a point of getting rid of it. Had a diagnostic done at a shop and it needs a new tank, fuel pump, and fuel filter. I've done so much to this car but need to get rid of it somehow and get a little bit of $$$ for it. Should I...

Engine problems, where to get fixed? (E. Tenn.)

If I plug the battery up and the problem is still going on (after cranking it), should it record new codes?

Engine problems, where to get fixed? (E. Tenn.)

Haven't checked, don't know how. It's an 87 N/A Automatic with the sports package. Is it pretty easy? Will I still get codes if the battery has been unplugged? I think I've had too much patience with this car lol. I've put in quite a bit of money and even more time. I'm a student and just don't...

Engine problems, where to get fixed? (E. Tenn.)

I am looking for a good auto shop to take my Supra to get looked at. I'm having some engine troubles that I've become very frustrated with and just don't have the time and patience to mess around with. I still haven't gotten to make my Supra a daily driver and it's been years since I first got...

    Timing problem 87 NA

well, I gave up last night. I don't know what is going on. I've tried everything and it won't work. I made sure the fuel pump was working and I ran back through the entire vacuum system and everything is hooked up. I do have one question though. I replace one VSV valve with a VSV valve but it...

    Timing problem 87 NA

Ok, I used a chopstick to check for TDC and I am definitely TDC. The marks on the cam gears and rear cover match up perfectly. The crank pulley happens to be at 0* as well. What about the distributor? I'm in the middle of setting it as I type this. I am also going to run through the entire...

    Timing problem 87 NA

Is the balancer the actual crankshaft pulley? Cause if it's not, it's been replaced. I bought this engine new, kinda like a Jasper engine (I know, mistake. I found this site shortly after and realized I could have saved a LOT of money by dropping in a low mileage used one lol). Ok, just...

    Timing problem 87 NA

ok, pulled off the timing belt cover and turned the engine until the notches lined up and the the balancer is at 0*. I'm about to pull the distributor. Do I make sure the rotor button is pointing at #1?

    Timing problem 87 NA

Yeah, I did have the terminals jumped but I'm kinda curious as to when I should jump them (after I start and warmup the engine?). That's the thing, I have backed it towards 10* but the engine starts to idle extremely low and inconsistently so that I can't get an accurate reading on the marker...

    Timing problem 87 NA

I've read through about 4 or 5 different threads dealing with timing but they have yet to really address the problem I'm having. I just took my Supra out for it's first drive with a completely rebuilt engine and it was VERY sluggish. I have started the engine before and it ran great but I...

    Corolla auto transmission question...

Hey guys, while I'm dumping money into my 87 Supra, my daily driver is a 98 Toyota Corolla. I got a transmission flush done at NTB late last summer. Later on that fall it started acting up. I'm not sure whether this is the engine or tranny (auto). So, here it is: Starting from a dead stop in...

A big decision... to sale, or not to sale

I think you guys have sold me... I have always had big plans for this car and I've driven an 89 before, and it was an experience like none other. My cashflow chart will be fairly simple at least lol all money -> Supra

Is it worth it to part out?

If the headgasket is all that's wrong, don't ask, just fix it. Then decide whether to get rid of it. Or, if you didn't pay much for the car to begin with, part the engine components and sell the body, if it's in pretty good shape.

A big decision... to sale, or not to sale

Damn. lol Thanks guys, really. I'm definitely gonna finish it cause the cost of what's left to do would be worth the extra money I would get back when I sell it, or if I sell it. I guess we'll see what happens when I start driving it. I do have a 98 Corolla I use for school (an extra...

A big decision... to sale, or not to sale

Hey guys! If any of you don't mind helping me out, I would really appreciate it. I need some help with deciding whether to sale my Supra or not. Here's the situation: I'm an engineering student who just got a great internship this summer, and it pays. It's local too, so I'll be staying at...

    Brake Booster leaking

Cool. That helps a lot. So I guess I need to either buy a new master cylinder or get a rebuild kit. Some guy earlier said that it wasn't worth rebuilding, how true is that?

    Brake Booster leaking

Well, the brakes worked fine before I got the car a couple of years ago and started a complete overhaul of just about everything. It looks like there is a seal there where those 4 bolts/nuts attach the master cylinder to the booster (assuming that it is the round black thing). It's leaking out...
