OK 1G: First I heard of a 1G was back in the late 1980's when I found out there was a Corona 2000 GT released for Japan & Europe & they had the 1G-GE in them. Second time I here about them was in approx. 2000 & Lexus was using the 1G-GE in the IS200. Then a few yew years later, through the...
Over many years of seeing port matched & polished manifolds (intake & exhaust) & cyl. heads the surfaces have always been polished to "as smooth as glass" finish. So i don't know why it should, all of a sudden, change from that. :dunno:
Would you know if the Tacoma or Tundra fan is used on any other Toyota model because we don't get those here in Australia. The only Toyota pickup (ute here) we get is the Hilux.
Interesting that you took it back to a Toyota dealer to have it repaired. (Sounds crazy)That is the last place I would take a Toyota for servicing/repairs. I wouldn't even take my Camry there. Your choice buddy.
To JMCBoost & IJ, I take back what I said about checking hardness. I found out from my engine building guru that indeed some cyl heads, after being cooked, can be effected by a degree of annealing. I have learnt something. Also some cyl heads are more susceptable to it than others. Please accept...
You don't need to check hardness at all!! The aluminium structure doesn't change just because it has been sitting for sometime.
Get it crack tested first & then check the cyl block mating face for flatness & roughness, these 3 items are absolutely critical! When those 3 items are OK then go...
The temp gauge on mine reads just about half way on the gauge at full operating temp. I'll have to get back to you about the oil press gauge, I cant quite remember.
P.S. Who put those disgusting wheels on your Supe??? :barf: !!!!
I know a lot of Mk3 owners have found that the gurgling type noise behind the dash was related to BHG. With mine I was 90% sure that it was a heater actuator with a mind of its own. It hasn't done it for a while until this morning. I reached under the dash on the LH side of the HVAC & held the...
I know 100% that mine doesn't have a BHG because of the "machining insurance" that I did to the block when I fixed my BHG 55,000 kms ago. I'm actually still running the factory HG.
The engine doesn't use a drop of coolant & my compression is the same as when the engine was first rebuilt.
Have you ever considered that the noise behind the dash could also be one of the heater's doors electronic actuators that has a mind of its own?
I believe this is happening in mine because my cooling system is perfect & I sometimes get this noise without running the engine but just have the...
Yes & No, mine does it between gear changes sometimes but not every time.
It can be annoying at times. What is happening is the muffler is storing turbulent exhaust gas for a moment & when it releases it pops. I think I may need to look at a different muffler??
