I had the same thing. Recalibrate the Throttle position sensor per the TSRM sticky link here in the technical board. If it still surges swap the AFM for a known working one and see if its gone. Also, the wiring harness wires to the AFM plug are very brittle because off the heat on that side of...
So idling and cruising and everything should be controlled by the onboard computers,
So my Safc low throttle map should just be 0's? And my high throttle map should be where i make adjustments?
Is my setting of 30/70 low high good?
Yeah, real light gas. On the highway cruising i use like...2% 3% throttle to keep it at 65mph, is that the problem?
I have the SAFC set to 30 low 70 HIGH
At 70% throttle ill just be constantly accelerating tho, not sitting at certain rpm intervals long enough to change fuel percentages?
Fuel pressure is set to stock levels. Checked that yesterday. I dont remember both numbers, but i know one is 38lbs (with or without vacuum i dont remember). I do not know how to read what my ECU is doing at idle. Usually I idle around 15 on wideband..which is a bit lean even at 20%...but adding...

Apexi SAFC2
I was told that the 550's and lexus AFM offset eachother so theres no tuning involved. That i should be able to set Apexi at 0% and run a little rich...
I use the apexi safc2. I have low throttle at 30, high at 70. I have the lexus afm, 550's, and afpr. Also a very large intake manifold and throttlebody. For some reason the safc has to be set at 25% to be at 14 on wideband. But the ecu and SAFC are fighting eachother. The wideband sweeps back...
Okay, so I traced it down to a fidgety wire under the fuse box. Not sure which one it is but if I jiggle the fuse box harness around, she fires up. Onto the next things.
Here are my mods:
Cold start delete
EGR delete
3inch downpipe
3 inch exhaust

I reattached grounds, no spark at all. I was incorrect when I said there was spark on 1. No spark at all, and no fuel.
This could be a problem of IGt signal not reaching ECU, because if this signal is not received by ECU, it shuts injectors down.
How do I test if ECu is receiving igt signal...
The shop did not want to get into it. My car still sits with no spark and no injector pulse.
I verified wiring at the CPS is correct. I verified the ohms on each coil are correct.
How do I check if the CPS is sending the signals it needs to?
It has a new wiring harness in it from Ron Saunders. So I want to believe it is not wiring. However, wires did pull out of the Ignitor connector when I disconnected the old one. I trusted the shop I brought it to to repin the connector. So I want to assume they did that right as well....
Could...
***issue fixed, bad wiring in fuse box area. Just got lucky wiggling things around****
**New, Fuel Cut issue. Pg 2**
I have a 7mgte that only 1 coil is firing. if looking at the engine, the passenger and center coil are not making spark. I replaced the entire coil pack assembly and mounting...
The large hose that comes from the top and goes to brake booster, it has a one way valve in it.
I am wondering if that is a normal vacuum tube and if I could tap into it for vacuum before the one way valve (intake manifold side of valve)
I can align all my marks just fine, and my engine is at TDC blah blah blah.
What I'm wondering is what position should the cams be facing when at TDC?
Should the cylinder 1 lobes be pointed up and slightly towards each other? Or a different position?
Why do the cam gears have 3 holes if we're...
oh yeah. The gear :-/ shoot, I know I didn't mess that up because the CPS spins when I crank.
well, so much for that idea, back to the drawing board, thanks Enraged.
I rebuilt my supra, almost 2 years ago and never got it to run after rebuilding. Ill save all that detail and tell you I've tried almost everything.
Recently, I rebuilt another car and had the same issues my supra is having when starting and immediately realized on this car (a Dual Overhead...
Thanks guys, How can I test if my IACV is operating?
Then I will re-calibrate the TPS to see if it helps the starting issues.
EDIT: HOLY CRAP, I wont be getting a new IACV, $340 from Napa!!! Can I test mine to see if its working properly?
I am running Low Impedence 550's from an 87 rx7 turbo2.....and the AFPR and the Lexus housing.
I TOO am extremly lean. 21 pegged out on the Wideband gauge lean. I cant get it to start unless i hold the throttle all the way open and then it coughs and sputters to life. Been trying to solve this...
Yes it does have a set screw to adjust idle.
Should I set the screw first and Then do the TPS calibration? I did it the opposite way. I calibrated it, and then set the screw just a small amount open.
