inside that main pulley there is a bolt.
you can stick your fingers in there and see if you feel it and you can tell if it's loose. that main pulley should not be wobbling . if it's wobbling it would suggest it's loose , not good and that will make an engine knock sound when you go to start it...
i'm assuming you are open to suggestions .

before you start the engine put your hand on the alternator pulley and give it a twist to see if it moves to the left or the right . you should not be able to move it..

check the 2 vsv switches under the intake

the seals are designed to do the job without the goop/compound/stuff .
the manual suggests using motor oil .
i used the "goo" (permatex4)one time and developed a oil leak right away. i removed the goop and the leak was/is gone . maybe i didn't apply the goo nice and smooth which caused the...
i've done it before as have many others it's fairly easy . just clear a path to the head nuts and hit with the torque wrench.
you want to do them in a criss-cross pattern
Exhaust 12 8 4 2 5 9 13
Intake 14 10 6 1 3 7 11

i was told that using the lapping tool was a waste of time too.
using a lapping tool is not a waste of time
for those of us without a complete garage at our finger tips
the lapping tool works well
i did have the head surfaced but still lapped the head and did all the block work by hand...
it's strange but the ones listed on cars.com are gone and i know that the 2 scams listed were just re-listed on 08/20/05. i was looking at them this afternoon
