I changed the thermostate and it has antifreeze and everything is pluged in but my sup wont blow hot air. Could the control/instrament box keep it from working? It aint leaking no antifreeze.

I have a 89 mk111 and I just put a aftermarket ic and hardpipes on. Well after I got them put on i took it for a test run. It hesitates pretty bad in 1-3 gear only at first, after i get the rpm's up it runs good. Oh and it back fired a couple of times. Any and all help will be appreciated.
