Regarding the price of the 2jz rods. You can always search for a good used set. I just acquired a set of 2jz-gte rods, pistons, and caps for my 1.5jz motor for $105 shipped to my door from a guy on supraforums. I only bought them because i needed the caps for the rods. But, just keep looking...
What wiring harness are you using. I noticed the 7m CPS. I've read this is fairly common with the 2jz-ge, but wanted to know more details on what's involved.
15 psi is fine for a couple of months on the stock HG. But be ready for that sucker to go if continued at this boost level. Personally i ran 15psi for about a year before the HG poped.
I have a recomendation.... Try both engines. See which one you like the best and build that one. If you can't afford to do so. Just stick with the 7M since it's already in your car.
Just got mine for $10 + tax at my local pick-n-pull salvage yard. If they don't know what it is, then you are in luck. I'm on stock injectors for now, but afc and wideband is going in shortly. Also, there was a chart showing all the injectors of an fc rx7 that showed which 550's were compatible...
