How is the play in the turbo? any codes for the bad idle? have you done a compression test?

Edit: this is the section but you want the 7mGTE(turbo) not the 7mGE(non turbo) section.

blue-ish smoke or white smoke? does it happen when you start the car off after it cools down? Does it smoke under load while boosting? Is the car overheating? how is the oil level? how is the coolant level? does it look like there is water in the oil? Does the turbo make any noise under boost? did you take off the accordian hose (hose from the turbo to air filter) and wiggle the turbo shaft to see if there is alot of play?

The more info you give the better we can answer your question. Use the search tool as much as possible and narrow your post down to the closest section possible (this would be best in the turbo section, 7mgte)

just got it a couple of hours ago

do some research about the car and use the search button before you come and look for a magic answer. We can help you if you help yourself first.

kk, check out the things i said above in my first post. Let us know how those come out. Probably should get the turbo rebuilt for starters or you're gonna run low on oil and spin a bearing. Then go from there. A leak down test wouldn't hurt either.

I'm curious. Why would you buy an engine that exhibited such symptoms? Only reasons I can see are A) You failed to properly inspect the vehicle or B) You accepted the problems and intended to effect repairs. Am I missing something?

And this is in the GE section?

So how many people actually realize that the TSRM gives exact instructions on how to properly inspect the turbo? I know it's tempting to just wiggle and guess but take it off the engine and use a dial gauge.
