Did you check the one wire that goes to the starter. iirc it is brown. Also make sure that you dont have any loose connections in the positive wire. Hope this helps.

Do you hear the relay click?
Excellent question Jonathan. I don't see an answer...probably still too early in the morning.

If the starter solenoid does click and the battery has a good charge I would suspect the contacts within the solenoid on the starter. But it sounds like you had the starter checked out and rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing.

Now if you don't hear a click, I would first suspect that maybe the Alarm has been tripped. It interrupts the starter relay so you can't steal the car. Re-lock and unlock both doors to see if you can reset the Alarm. I've had it happen several times on my 89. It seems the contacts in the doors are kind of troublesome. You can also roll it and pop the clutch (I see you have a 5-speed) and it will start that way if it is the alarm.

Important clue: I see from your first post that it would not start BEFORE the engine was pulled, so all that work should be unrelated to the starting problem.

Your key could be worn out...although that wouldn't cause your no-start problem...lol.

So do you hear the starter relay click when you turn the key to try and start the car? You should hear a "click" sound coming from the passenger side footwell.
