the latest thing thats going on now, got a new (used) ICV cause my last one took a crap on me, now i cant get the idle down below 900 (after its at opperating temp), unless i adjust the tps a lil bit then it drops to 700-750, but when i rev it up again or shut off and start the car it jumps back up and wont drop unless i mess with the tps...has this ever happened to anyone? :1zhelp:

When you say your adjusting the TPS you mean your loosening the two screws and moving the TPS itself?
The way I adjust mine is as follows.
Get to operating temp and then disconnect the throttle linkage to the throttle body.
I check the RPM with the dashpot adjustment all the way backed off and then bring the RPM up to approx 700 by adjusting the throttle stop screw.
Then I check the adjustment of the TPS with an OHM meter and adjust it by the TSRM between the terminals. Then if it needs any RPM tweeking I adjust the dashpot up. I like mine idling around 900 with the AC on.

:nono: The dashpot is not an idle adjustment... I'm glad it works for you, but your dashpot's probably not doing it's specific job if you're using it that way.

Projectmk3, have you tested the TPS' IDL switch? Test the TPS as outlined in the TSRM, and set your dashpot back to spec.

Yeah it works and dampens a little sooner but since I had my fidanza installed its not a bad thing and its less than a full turn.
The idle speed is controlled automatically anywayz after the baseline adjustments. I just tweek mine cause its 120+ over here right now and when sitting at idle I like it a little higher at a stop light so the AC doesn't struggle as much than at the standard RPM.

the tps is fine, i also set the tps as stated in the haynes auto manual, feeler gauge and a ohm meter. I found out this morning that if i lightly tap the ICV with the end of a screwdriver, it drops to 750. Im jus gonna try to clean it out again and see what happens

Make sure your ECU is getting a signal from the A/C system, it's supposed to increase the idle on its own.

is the idle steady or does it bounce a little?

yeah it does, between 1000-950 it jus jumps a lil bit

Funny story, i went up the mountain the other week and from out of nowhere the tensioner pulley for the A\C fell off along with the belt, The ECU does put a code out for the a\c signal (51 i think), I didn't think it would effect the idle when i never use it

51 is also TPS related, i would check the wires to make sure theyre not corroded or anything, it could also be a vacuum leak. good luck.

51 is A/C signal and TPS IDL switch. You'll throw a code 51 if you move the throttle plate while the diagnostic is jumpered, or if the IDL switch isn't closing.

I didn't see that it was a used one you installed. There is no telling that your getting a better one than the one you have.
The IDL has to be re-checked with a feeler guage every time you move the TPS.
