my 92 turbo automatic constantly over heats, i only have a greddy boost controller that i run at ten psi sometimes otherwise it is a stock jspec engine that i replaced the original with. sometimes i can smell gas while boosting and i think theres a little oil in the water, and a small oil leak, i know pretty weak huh? anyways i recently set my timing back from about 14-15dgs btdc to around 12dgs btdc and white exhaust is now pouring out the tail pipes especially with throttle, of course i tried setting it back but something blew. I think its time i changed the head gasket and was wondering what other mods i should take care of while im in there to make this thing run like a dream at 10 psi all the time, any suggestions or advice about mods or repair ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Well its pretty obvious you have a blown head gasket. Buy a toyota gasket kit. It will come with a new toyota head gasket along with all the other gaskets you will need in the process. Of and you will need to get new head bolts/studs. At the minimum I would get ARP Head Bolts. Preferably ARP Head Studs. The studs distribute the load more evenly when you torque them down. Also more accurate torque readings.

Edit: oh and do yourself a favor and stop driving it NOW to prevent further damage

plan on pulling the entire motor out if ur going MHG. u'll want 100% smooth and accurate surfaces on both the head and the block.

sounds shitty bud, but do it right and u'll love it SOOO much more in the long run!

BHG = chance to start from scratch...

well, it can be anywhere from $500ish [depends on ur machine shop] all the way up to $3000-$5000.

u need to sit down and do your research as far as what you want out of your supra and your 7m-gte.

Here is a good checklist to start with when thinking of a build.

What do i want?
-Dyno queen?
-Drag car?
-Weekend cruiser?
-Reliable Daily Driver?
-Show car?

Whats my budget?
- < $500
- $501-$1000
- $1001-$2000
- $2001-$3000
- $3001+

Pistons?
Rods?
ARP? [yes, of course]
MHG?
Headwork?
Turbo?
Fuel delivery?
Intercooler setup?

i think that this plan is definatly somthing that alot of successful builders deal with. i write mine up on paper for every car i own. what needs fixed? what needs modified? etc.. the list goes on. figure out what u want out of your car so she can give it back to you. dont do something that you are going to regret when u have to do it over because u screwed it up the first time.

hope that helps!

What if his budget is $1000.50? ;)

You need to decide what YOU want from the car, and go from there. If you just want a BPU car that will run strong and start every morning with no problems, just stay with a set of prepped stock rods, and a new set of stock pistons.

The hardest part of rebuilding the 7M, imho, is finding a shop that understands the concept of 'tight clearances'

Amen to that.
