i am about to get an black '88 supra turbo 5sp with grey cloth interior. its got a new clutch, new brakes, new windshield, replaced HG, and it looks ok (see pics. one pic is of small blemish). It has around 160k miles. I am buying it for no more than $2800.

Edit: turbo has .015" radial play, no axial play

Is this a deal? Or should i keep shoppin'?

great deal, id go for it. check the spare tire well and see how much rust is in there, if any. its an easy fix, though.

You can replace the turbo if you have too. That is one sweet looking supra. You can tell in that fourth picture that the Mustang GT knows his place.............right behind the supra................lol

TEST DRIVE IT. You don't need us to make the decision after you do. If you don't get it give me the directions and I'll swoop it up on saturday.

......make sure to push it hard and listen to her.

thanks for the help.

one last question: is .015" radial play sufficient? or does this kind of play mean i would need a new turbo!?

thanks again

How did you measure the .015 shaft play and you haven't even test drove it yet? That amount of shaft play is nothing. You wouldn't even be able to feel that with your fingers. I wish my turbo had that amount of shaft play. Good luck with the car.............lol

if your confused ask the owner if you can check the turbo out your self, whether or not buy it and call it day.

I meant good luck buying the car. My car has only tore up on me one time. The rest of the time that I'm working on it is just basic upgrades. I consider my car very reliable and would drive it anywhere in the continental U.S. and drive it at 100mph all day long getting there. I think if you fix it up right it is as reliable as any other car................lol

It was hard keeping a straight face while I typed that last statement...........;)

First, nice car. A little high on the mileage, but the paint looks good.

Second, you mean to tell me you know how to measure axial and radial play on a turbo, but you don't know what a torque wrench is?
