Went in the car to finallllllly tune a bit today. Everything seemed to work for awhile while it was cold and idling then i noticed this:

Is this because of a bad driver? Its connected via USB to a WIN7 machine. This is my first thought, just incompatability, but if not, happen to anyone else?

Serial to USB adapters are known to have driver issues. Most of the time you can't even tell who the manufacturer is so it's hit or miss as far as compatibility goes. Your much better off using a PCI to serial adapter card. They're fairly inexpensive.

However, the fact that it was working at all leads me to believe that this isn't the issue.

It worked for a bit. It also worked on xp. Must be WIN7. I have a radioshack USB-Serial adapter. $40+ cable i've used all of twice bought solely for this purpose. This is ridiculous.

I'd still recommend using the PCI to Serial adapter to prevent against future instances of conflicts. I think $10 is worth the peace of mind that it works when you need it.
