I just got done with my turbo swap (old ct-26 to newer one) Get finished find a coolant leak in the lower radiator hose. I look and see that around the pass. side of the motor it's smoking (sweet smelling so coolant where it leaked all over the block) but I touch the turbo and it's screaming HOT!!! I know I need a new thermo housing gasket but should I think about getting a lower thermostat? The turbo is not leaking fluid, and everything was fine. I still haven't drove it but it does see some boost when reved up. I have dual fans up front if that can be the thermostat not opening up soon enough and overheating the turbo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the turbo is going to be insanely hot. not saying you dont have a problem, but even idleing for a few seconds is going to make it untouchable. I cant really tell what you're talking about with the leak/smoking, maybe pics would help?

if the turbo isnt glowing white burning a hole through your hood, you should be ok. its experiencing the exhaust gas temps like gotturbos said, so itll cook some eggs if you ask it to.

Ok, Basically It was leaking antifreeze onto the block when we changed the turbo from moving our hands up against the lower hose. It seems to be burning the anti freeze off the block. Other than that I think im going to drop to a 180/170 somewhere in there, since I have to take the housing off anywho to put a new gasket in there. Everything else is fine besides the leaking antifreeze. I ordered a new hose tonight though so it will be in in 2-3 days so I can finally drive it!!!
